I have to say, I
am absolutely lovin the latest series of Shameless...
episode 16 already! It
is the sixth series, and the story lines are as crazy and far reaching as
ever. It really is a case of what the hell is going to happen
next, they
ensure that there are no storylines untold from the lifestyles of Brits
in
the naughty's, and certainly don't hold back in their graphical
representation of
 them.
Lets just hope that the recession doesn't cut their benefits too deeply
in
the form of Channel4 Programme
Production cuts, and let the adventures of the Chatsworth
Buccaneers continue forever. What goes on in
Paul Abbott's mind
to enable the ideas for such a
masterclass of writing would surely shame the Devil, and
in his lead Character, Frank Gallacher, we have a man
whom could give Gordon
Brown a few policy ideas... so be FRANK... make poverty history... cheaper
drugs now!!! |

Looks like being a bit of an
hectic month coming in May, with the May Bank Holiday weekend on the lash
with me mates, then the following weekend, it is off to Liverpool to see
Everton, as well as a few of the City's Pubs. After that it is Italy, with
stop off's in Naples, Paestum, and Pompeii to catch some historic Roman and
Greek ruins, and to see my Sister, Nephew's and Niece. Then it is my
Birthday and the Whitsun Holiday which is to be spent in Munich, at the
Hofbrauhaus and Andechs Monastry Brewery, as well as a few of my old
haunts... finally the months is going to be ended off with the Cup Final
between Everton and Chelsea, hopefully from Wembley... if I can get a
ticket! Watch this space... well the one above anyhow! |

It's off to Germany then, with
plenty of problematic travelling on the way, especially travelling with KLM.
So it is off to Cardiff Airport, then a flight from CWL to Amsterdam, then
onto Nuremberg. I will be travelling along with my Mother on this occasion,
as she is spending Christmas in Germany with us too. It will be the first
time that she has spent Christmas outside of the UK, but I guess times are a
changing... |

It was a great concert last
night, the first time that I have seen the Phonics since Live8, and the
first time on their own since way back in '99, at the now legendary 'Morfa'
gig. The tour is to celebrate the release of their greatest hits album
'Decade In The Sun'. All the songs on the album were performed, along with
many others, culminating in 'Local Boy in a Photograph' and 'Dakota'. The
crowd were a pretty rowdy bunch, as with most Phonics gigs, and especially
due to the fact that it was a Saturday, and many had been out in town during
the day, and even more were off out on the town after the show. So pretty
much a party atmosphere, where the beer flowed freely, and assisted by a bit
of a discount on some beers, with a pound off a pint! Awesome!!! Nearly
forgot 9/10, though really tempted to give a 9.5,,, |

Work is looking rather
precariously at the moment, and amazingly it has nothing to do with the
economic downturn, or recession. None of that has any effect upon this
project, It is simply down to delays in technology, huge delays in fact (18
months), which could cost a large number of jobs. |

Fully enjoyed the concert last
night, well as much as you can when you are on your todd. Deacon Blue were
really good, and stood up to expectations, playing a few of their hits from
the eighties. I was slightly disappointed with Simple Minds. though maybe I
am being a little too fussy. They started superbly, with 'Waterfront,' then
the middle of the set just passed me by, as they played other songs from
their 30years of touring, before finishing very strongly, with a trio of big
hitters, in the form of 'Don't You Forget About Me', 'Belfast Child', and
'Alive and Kicking'. I would say a 7/10 would be a fair assessment. So next
up it is the Stereophonics on home soil, next Saturday... |

CIA, with Deacon Blue supporting. Looks like I will be attending alone, as
originally Korina was supposed to be still in town, but a change of plan
scuppered that, then it appeared likely that one of me mates would be
accompanying, but that has gone a bit pear shaped too, so looks like only
me. |

A return to Bristol for Korina,
Cailan, and Myself. This time it is to the Airport, as the missus and the
wee laddie return to Germany, ready for the Christmas festivities. My Mother
and Myself will follow on the 23rd December. I finished the rest of the day
off, in true British form, with a trek around a few DIY establishments, for
some paint and stuff. |

Had a shopping day out in
Bristol, at the new Cabot Circus shopping centre in the City, with Korina,
Cailan, and My Mother. We stopped off for a light bite at the Christmas
Market at Castle Park, where a few Bavarian sausages were munched through,
and washed down with some Gluhwein. Also went for a wee wander around me old
stamping ground! Managed to get back home just in time to catch the second
hald of the Wales v Australia Rugby International. |

The end of a quiet weekend, with
the afternoon spent at the Winter Wonderland in Cardiff, including a couple
of rides on Santa's Sleigh for Cailan (didn't fancy it myself), then it was a family outing on the BIG
Wheel (where unfortunately I managed to sit in a puddle of rain water, so a
rather damp undercarriage for the rest of the afternoon), with panoramic views across Cardiff and up into the South Wales Valley's. We
also stayed for a spot of lunch, Sunday Roast (Beef) for myself, Korina tucked
into a SteakBurger topped with Cheese, Bacon, and Salad. Whilst Cailan
plodded through a Roast Pork and Stuffing Roll. Decided to give the skating
a miss... again, as I already had a wet bum! |

watching the Wales v New Zealand Rugby International from the Millennium
Stadium, just up the road. We were going to venture out into town in the
evening, but after the last international evening that we went out, we
decided to give it a miss. Didn't really fancy an evening drinking from
plastic glasses, being pushed from pillar to post. |

So it's off to the Bryan Adams
Concert tonight, at the CIA. A full twelve years since I saw him last, and
at the very same venue. we had standing tickets for the concert, and sand
along, with a few beers in hand. It was a totally awesome concert, the whole
thing was pretty much spot on, as you would expect from a total
professional. A truly great act, and a tough one to beat for Simple Minds,
and the Stereophonics in the next few weeks, but we will see... 9/10. |

We are all off to the Cardiff
Round Circle "Sparks in the Park", at Coopers Field, located just
behind Cardiff Castle, up near the Weir. It was a pretty wet and blustery
affair to be honest, I was quite surprised that it went ahead. Cailan quite
enjoyed it, whilst the rest of us could not wait to get back home into the
warm. Firework display was pretty impressive on the whole, and was a good 20
to 25minutse. |

day for us too. Heading back home this evening, so just grabbing a quick
beer and some food before heading to the Airport. Probably not the place to
go for a quick one really, as it was pretty hectic, due to the improved

Day 2 at the fest, and certainly
the biggest drinking day. Meeting up with Martin and the Irish lads, for yet
another doing at the fest, green hats everywhere, and many lasses clinging
to the shirt tails. There was a table booked for today, at the
Schottenhammel tent. On arrival, there were a few surprise additions, in the
form of Grant, and a few new found friends too. Had quite a few beers there
until the early evening, where we mixed in with some of the tru Bavarians,
then headed of the Hacker Bierkeller overlooking the Wiesn. Obviously we
headed to Killians afterwards, and that is where the hats went a missing, as
did the inhabitions. |

Day 1 at the fest, with Korina,
Cailan, and Myself. We headed for the Hacker Pschorr tent, which is annually
decorated out in pale Bayern Blue Clouds. We had a couple of Maβes here, and
a bit of lunch (Hendl), before heading out into the fairground. From there
onwards, it was the Big Wheel, a couple of Carousel's for Cailan, and a few
liveners in the form of Nymphenburg Sekt. |

Well the flights and hotel are
booked, as is our table, at this years Oktoberfest! So we head off to Munich
via Heathrow Terminal 5 with BA, for what will be my 8th fest, and Cailan's
2nd. Korina is already into double figures, so is just adding to her tally.

Well it's been a fabulous weekend
so far, certainly can't complain about the weather. Maybe we are going to
have an "Indian Summer" after all. Spent the morning shopping, looking
around for floor tiles for the Kitchen, bathroom , and En-Suite. Then had a
look around the town, prior to relaxing with some lunch and a few beers
sitting in the sun in Cardiff Bay. A pretty quiet laid back weekend, with no
specific events organised... in preparation for the Fest next week! |

Went down to Penarth for a bit of
a wander around in the sunshine during the morning, called off for a beer
nearer to lunchtime at "The Railway" on the way home. Returned to
to the City for lunch at Zerodegrees, washed down with their MicroBrewed
Pilsener and a Mango Beer. Had a sun dazed wander around the town, lovely... |

Had an unintentional day off work
today, after the late return from the night out before. I didn't get in
until around 2.30ish, after a night out in Bristol, and although I felt
pretty good hangover wise, during to the lack of it. I was absolutely
shattered. So anyhow, decided to have the day off. I thought it would be
fairly acceptable, especially as I was supposed to be on holidays all of
next week, and now that as been changed, with me in work on Monday and
Tuesday. So it was off out around the bay, a bit of lunch with Korina and
Cailan, a nice chilled bottle of the Vino de Grape, a boat cruise in the
sunshine, a stroll along the barrage via the adventure playground, and home
for tea. |

Another leaving do in work, and
therefore another night out in Bristol. Though tonight, decided not to stay overnight, and am going to catch the train home, either at 22:55 or
at 01:30. So that's 01:30 organised then, and it's off to the Cottage down
on the Water first, then across to the Pump House, before heading up into
Clifton for a livener at the Alma Tavern, and a Curry next door in Bombay
Dreams. After food it is across to Whiteladies Road, and onto The Hill
before heading down Park Street and to the Waterfront into BSB. Then a
leisurely stroll to temple Meads, a bit of a nod on the train, along with a
Bacon Sarnie and a cup of Coffee to try to delay the coma. Actually felt
pretty good on arrival in Cardiff, and the chilly walk home certainly woke
me up. |

Made a visit to Billy Smart's
Circus at Sophia Gardens. The intention was that it would be a nice bit of
entertainment for Cailan, but I have to say, that the adults probably
enjoyed it even more. It is pretty spectacular stuff to be fair, especially
the trapeze acts. And if you do go, do not be thrown by the not so awe
inspiring arena, this is just a disguise for what is a terrific afternoon of
entertainment. Also compare this to the cost of taking your family to the
footie, and I promise you, this is serious value for money, at around £13
per adult ticket, and a tenner for a child. |

Went to see Cardiff City v
Bristol City at Ninian Park, in the Coca Cola Championship, with my Father.
The game was fairly entertaining, but ended in disappointment yet again, as
many footie game that I attend does, in the form of a nil-nil draw. Anyhow,
I got to visit Ninian Park for what will probably be the last time prior to
it's demolition, and City's move across the road into their new Stadium. It
was off out into town for the evening, well for Korina and I anyway. My
parents were left babysitting. Tonight's entertainment is to be taken in at
Ha Ha Bar, Tiger Tiger, Barrocco, and the new but not so fabulous Retro
Lounge. |

Heading to Stratford upon Avon,
to try to catch up on some Old English Culture, and wander around the
picturesque Shakespeerian town with all the other touristy types. We are not
staying in Stratford, just spending the day. We are heading to Heythrop
later in the afternoon, it lies perfectly between Chipping Norton on the far
East of the Cotswolds, and Woodstock. Meaning a nice afternoon country drive
along the winding Cotswolds Roads, slipping through the delightful villages
on the way. Woodstock is the home of Blenheim Palace, where we are intending
on visiting tomorrow, prior to heading off to Oxford. for the evening. |

A very rare week day off work,
where lots of things are planned, all those little things that have been put
off for weeks, but as usual, the day passes in the blink of an eye, all my
outstanding chores are further postponed, and it is back to work. Though I
did get to spend a little more time with the family, and managed a little
shopping, as well as organisation of my paperwork. I always find it a little
strange whenever I am out and about shopping, and not in work during a work
day. It gives you that sense of feeling that you are doing something
inherently wrong, as you wander aimlessly around high street stores with the
older generation, dole scroungers and single mums. |

Decided to make a visit to
Llandaf Cathedral, and the surround Cardiff Borough of Llandaf. The first
time I have visited the Cathedral. Passed it many times though. Anyhow, it
was quite a pleasant day out, and I guess the most amazing thing about the
Cathedral, is that it lies at the bottom of a steep hill, in what appears to
be a hole. You have to descend a series of steps on entry. We decided to
have a small picnic on the Cathedral Green, prior to heading back to the
Bay. Spent the rest of the afternoon just relaxing on the waterfront. |

Spent the late morning and
afternoon in the City, as well as a very pleasant luncheon at La Tasca, for
a little Spanish Tapas, and a bottle of the white grape. It decided to p*ss
down for the rest of the afternoon and early evening, and luckily stopped
just after Korina and I headed out to Town around 10. Did a couple of bars
in town... Crunch, Barocco, Edwards, The Square etc, before hading home
around 1am. So only a 3 hour stint. |

My parents are staying for the
weekend, so they can catch up with Cailan's recent activities, and also so
they can baby sit tomorrow night, enabling a few hours out and about the
city of sin. Bought a couple of tickets today for the Stereophonics concert
at the CIA on Saturday 6th December. Perhaps I might actually go this time
too...
"17th July 2007 - Purchased 2 tickets for the
Stereophonics Concert at the CIA, obviously in Cardiff for Sunday 18th
November 2007. It will be the first time that I have seen the Phonics, since
they played at Live8 in July 2005. I have very fond memories of the first
time that I saw them live, at the now famous gig from Morfa Stadium in
Swansea, during May 1999. A lot has happened over the past eight years... to
all of us!"

We made the serious mistake of
going for a meal to Harry Ramsden's in Cardiff Bay this evening. I have
never been to a Ramsden's before, so I thought why not make a visit for a
change. Though seriously wish I hadn't afterwards, the service was extremely
poor, we ended up with a rather warm bottle of white wine, and nearly every
meal has something missing from it, compared to how it was described within
the menu, and as for presentation... Add to that the rather inflated prices
of £10 for an average size haddock and chips with mushy peas, and you are
around double the price of your local chippy, where I wish I had gone
afterwards. |

Strolled the City and Bay in
search of life changing entertainment... nevermind! Just a quiet weekend
really, marred by a fair spattering of rain. I have noticed there appears to
be a new fashion statement going on this summer in the UK... Sandals?
(nothing new there), with shorts (really trend setting), and a T-Shirt
(whatever next!), with a Golf Umbrella in hand, just in case! The way things
are going, we could quite possibly see Goggles and a Snorkel by next year... |

Spent the day at the Admiral
Cardiff Big Weekend in the gardens of the Civic Centre, including live
bands, beer stalls, eateries, and a pretty substantial fairground. It was
pretty nice lying on the grass in the sun with a chilled beer and a
Bratwurst in hand. It was like the good old day's back in the Englischer
Garten. Anyhow, a pretty nice day out, with lots of fun and relaxation (when
Cailan had his nap). |

for a week in Tenerife. Heading off on the 29th of August, and returning the
following Friday. A typical 4* Half Board affair, didn't really fancy going
full or ai. Not a big fan of hangin about the hotel all day trying to make
the most of all that money I have already spent. Anyhow, should be okay! The
intention is to blend it in with a couple of weekend breaks either side. Not
too sure where as of yet, but Paris, Venice and Barcelona are all in the
frame, as they always are. |

the City Centre. Don't usually head out on a Monday night, but fancied a bit

On the Sunday, we popped down to
a very hot and sweltery Barry Island for a few hours, sat on the beach a
bit, and even entered the sea. Who would have though it hey. Can't remember
the last time I was in the sea at Barry, must have been a wee nipper. |

Unfortunately I had to work again
on the Saturday morning, but enjoyed relaxing a little bit for the rest of
the day. Korina and I went to the Bay in the Evening to see the WOW... or as
I would better describe it... Why Oh Why! It was some French Street Theatre of
a sort, not particularly entertaining really, though the fireworks that
followed were pretty cool, as were the beers preceding and the cocktails afterwards at
Salt, Dim Sim, and Terra Nova. We were quite fortunate, as my parents baby
sat for Cailan, therefore enabling us to spend a very rare night out. |

Kicked the day off with another
full English Breakfast, and headed down to The Mall for the Changing of the
Guard. A rather customary tour of duty for all London tourists. Cailan was
not too impressed mind, and much preferred the dance down the Mall to
Admiralty Arch after all the crowds had left. We had a bit of a look around
some of the shops in Regent Street on the way back, broken up with a stop
off for lunch, and a few beers before heading back to
Cardiff. So the weekend in London was part of a dual purpose
stay. Partly to just spend a fun weekend, and partly as a stop off from the
travelling, on the way home from Heathrow. Korina and Cailan will be staying over for a
couple of months, well until Oktoberfest. So they will be spending the rest
of the summer in the UK, apart from some foreign breaks in between. |

As we were touring London with
Cailan for the first time, and knowing the access issues and serious lack of
facilities on the Underground for disabled passengers or parents travelling
with small children in prams, we decided to travel around the City on
an open top bus, courtesy of the BIG Bus Company, and a mere £24 per adult
for the day. Though they do throw in a wee boat trip from Tower Bridge to
Parliament in, so a real bargain! Anyway, it was a full tour of the many
sights including... Marble Arch, Baker Street, Oxford Street, Regents
Street, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament Square,
London Eye, The Globe Theatre, St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London,
Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast, Buckingham Palace, Wellington Arch, Mayfair,
Harrods etc etc. We were all pretty shattered by the end of it, so spent the
evening in the hotel restaurant, where we sampled a few more bottles of the
boudeaur de grape. |

Having suffered the London
Transport system for the day, in one form or another, whether being
re-routed by First Great Western, or having to change tubes mid journey on
the London Underground, then the rather expensive experience of the Heathrow
Express, and finally grid lock in a black cab. It surely doesn't get any
better than this! Anyhow, we eventually got back to the hotel, then went for
an early evening stroll through Kensington, through Kensington Gardens, with
stop off photo shoots at Kensington Palace and the Royal Albert Hall before
heading for some food and a well deserved helping of the vino. |

It's off to the smoke this
weekend... or as
the rest of the world will better know it, London. I am travelling up on the Friday
morning, then collecting Korina and Cailan from the Airport (Heathrow T5) in
the afternoon. Then it's full steam ahead in the form of tourist activities,
until we head back on the Sunday evening. We are staying at the Holiday Inn
Forum hotel in Kensington. where I have experienced many a fun time in
my illustrious past, whether it be with Korina or my Mates on the Jolly Boy's
tours. |

Stuck in bloody work again! A
last minute call of duty, in fact really last minute, with the requirement
arriving at 5 minutes to twelve, or as it is better know, five to offski!!!
Anyhow, I made sure that work didn't spoil my day, with a day out in the
Bay, at the Cardiff Food & DRINK festival. So may a beer, wine, champagne,
PIMMS, and spirit were drank, and buried with a freshly spit roast pig and
stuffing roll, and a venison burger. |

Amazingly I watched the Wimbledon
Men's Final of the Tennis today. On TV that is... I'm not totally crazy! The
first time in many a year. I only really ended up watching, as I just
flicked over to see the score, and got a little enthralled by the
excitement. As the rest of the nation did I guess. I was a little
disappointed that Federer did nit win, after making such a remarkable
comeback, but there we go! Also disappointed to see a screaming girl (Nadal)
winning the big prize. It was like watching a throw back of Monica Seles.

Well today is a BIG day for work,
where the fruition of the last 3 1/2 years bares itself in the form of the
first roll out of the Airbus A400M Versatile Military Airlifter. It is being
unveiled in Seville, Spain this afternoon in front of hundreds of
dignitaries, and the King of Spain. It is the first newly designed and built
military passenger to be built worldwide for 30 years. In case none of you
are aware, I have been working on this project for the past few years, on
the design integration and manufacture of the wings. As part of the project,
there were quite a number of advancements and firsts... for example, the
A400M was the first ever (large scale) composite wing structure to be
manufactured, before 787. A lot of people don't really see the roll out as
such a big milestone for the aircraft, as they interpret the first flight to
be the actual bid day, as that is when the world really sees your product in
all it's glory. Though the roll out is still a special occasion with all of
us, as it is the first time for many people on the program, that they
actually see the aircraft in it's entirety, as opposed to just the bit that
they make, such as the wings in our case. The first flight should take place
in Sept / Oct this year, and should be another momentous day. Until then... |

will be watching the game in front of the BIG outdoor screen in Cardiff Bay,

hours. Obviously Wales beat France to win the Grand Slam yesterday, and set
of a year of celebrations in my homeland of Wales. It was Wales' 10th Grand
Slam, secured 100 years after they won their first, and home fans left to
carry on the party of the century. |

Tonight is the night of the
Police concert at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. there is an anticipated
crowd of 50,000 people, with the tickets being sold out within an hour.
According to the Millennium Stadium this was a record, beating the three
hours it took to sell out a show featuring Oasis and the Foo Fighters in
2005. The concert is part of the band's comeback world tour. The gig was
originally to be the band's last concert of their European tour, and one of
four UK performances, but now an additional night has been added to the tour
at Wembley Arena tomorrow. |

Swansea, during May 1999. A lot has happened over the past eight years... to

It is the weekend of the Cardiff
Food & Drink Festival, with many wonderous tastes from around the globe.
Obviously, as always with these affairs, there is the customary free samples
and tasters to wet your appetite, including wines from South Africa,
Australia and South America, fantastically flavoured Rum's and Organic
Whisky's, and that was just the the apperetif's, the initially quenching was
fulfilled by a few local beers and ciders, prior to sampling some locally
reared Hog Roast, stuffed to perfection and topped off with Apple. Many
other culinary delights were sampled before the day was out, as well as a
few after dinner liquers. |

Genesis Concert at the Olympic Stadium in Munich. As previously stated, I
have two tickets for this event, but unfortunately am unable to attend, due
to work commitments, and the general reluctance to travel in the middle of
the week for a concert. Anyhow, inline with the rest of the tour, it
absolutely p*ssed down, and yet again, I had open air tickets; which
amazingly due to the extremely poor weather conditions leading upto the
event, I could not get rid of for Love nor Money. So basically got stuck
with €200 of concert tickets. |

Well it's summer time, and that
can only mean one thing... Summer Festivals! For the past couple of years, I
have been attending the Summer Festivals of Bristol. Well now a change of
scenery for 2007, with the Summer Haf... Cardiff Summer Fest. It kicks of
with the German Folk Fest (Beerfest) on the 25th May, and ends with the
Cardiff harbour Festival on the August Bank Holiday Monday. In between that
there is Circus Minimus, The Vicus - Roman re-enactment, Cardiff Outdoor
Action Show, a variety of Open Air Theatres, International Food & Drink
fest, the Tesco Children's Festival, WOW on the Waterfront, plus a lot more.

Busy trying to plan events and
trips for the rest of the year. There appears to be quite a lot to fit in,
especially with work getting in the way, as it always does. Events to be
planned are Wales versus the Czech Republic and Germany football games for
UEFA 2008, as well as two Genesis concerts in Hamburg and Munich. The annual
pilgrimage to the Oktoberfest, as well as a special invitation to a wine
fest in the Rhineland. Then there is the Jolly Boy's Outing's to the Rugby
League Cup Final at Wembley, and the 18-40+'s trip to Ayia Napa in Cyprus.
Obviously there will be a few other weekends away to squeeze in, such as
Newquay in Cornwall, Liverpool, Rome and Paris. Follow this up with the
Family Summer Holidays, a work trip to Seattle, Vancouver and Las Vegas. And
it is goodbye year! Oh I forgot, there is also Christmas and New Year to
plan too... |

Unfortunately my Father was taken
ill, on the way to Cailan's Birthday Party, and had to be admitted to
Hospital with internal bleeding (later to be discovered to have been a burst
ulcer), he lost around fout pints of blood, and so required a refill
(transfusion). Obviously this seriously affected the celebrations, and in
essence put them on hold until the weekend. Cailan didn't seem to mind too
much, and is not too keen on all these fussy organised events. |

Had a day out by the seaside in
Barry Island, first time that I have been there for years. I just thought

holidays to Barry and Porthcawl, used to be the same thing every summer. I
am just waiting for the chance to take him on his first holiday in a
Caravan. Then his childhood will have been tarnished as mine was. |

of tickets for the gig on Friday 15th June 2007 at the AOL Arena in Hamburg,
Germany, as well as a pair for the concert at the Olympic Stadium in Munich

 Tony
Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford of the iconic band Genesis unveiled
the dates for their first tour in 15 years. Turn It On Again - the tour,
will see the band play a series of stadium concerts in Europe in the summer
of 2007. Kicking off in the Olympic Stadium, Helsinki on 11 June, the tour
will hit twelve different European countries, ending in Rome on 14 July. At
a Pan-European press conference staged today at London's exclusive Mayfair
hotel and hosted by comedian and lifelong Genesis fan, David Baddiel, the
band took questions from international media about their reasons for
reforming and thoughts on the tour.
European tour promoter, John
Giddings, commented:
"It is a privilege to work with one of the greatest rock bands of all time,
and to see their musical talent together again onstage will be incredible.
The live shows are as famous as their music."
The "Turn It On Again" tour will be travelling to all the biggest stadiums
as it treks across Europe in 2007 through Finland, Denmark, Switzerland,
Austria, Hungary, Poland, Germany, France, Holland, UK, Monte Carlo and

Tickets will be on sale for UK dates on 24 November and for dates in Germany
on 10 November. Other on-sale dates to be announced. Tony Banks, Phil

I had my first Glühwein of the
year today. As those of you in the know, know... Food and drink play a major
role in the German Christmas celebration. In cities throughout Germany there
are Christkindlesmarkts. In these Christmas markets one can enjoy all types
of delicious Christmas edibles and beverages. Christmas goodies, from
Lebkuchen (gingerbread) to Weihnachts Stollen (fruit bread) are plentiful.
And the aroma of Glühwein ("glow wine"), a hot mulled wine that is drunk by
adults and older children alike, fills the air. There is nothing quite like
standing outside one of the Glühwein stalls at the Christkindlesmarkts on a
freezing night with a mug of the fine stuff! |

After my informative visit of
EADS in Augsburg a couple of weeks back, they have offered me a 6 month
contract, with the potential of an extension or even a permanent position.
Generally the money is more, and obviously it is in Germany where I am
aiming to be one day, and the working atmosphere is a little more relaxed,
as us job shoppers whom have worked in Germany before, well know. On the
downside, there will be no work trips as there is currently, and also a stop
on my training and development. In essence they wish to drain my sponge and
absorb my knowledge for a while. Tough decision, will have to let them know
either way on Monday. An ideal decision to be made over a Jolly Boy's
Weekend in London! |

Town. We also managed to take in the rather enthusiastic and celebratory

Well today is the day that a lot
of Airbus UK employees have been waiting for, the first fly bye in the UK of
the A380 "Super Jumbo". It made a number of low passes over both UK
factories at Broughton in Flintshire, North Wales and at Filton in Bristol,
South West of England. It was on route from the Frankfurt Air Show to London
Heathrow, for Airport compatibility testing. I was fortunate to have a prime
view of the event on the edge of the runway at the Filton site. There will

Cailan and Korina were released
from hospital after a eight days in their plush private room, to begin their
highly interactive lives together at home; and without the assistance of an
army of nurses. Cailan gets to go outside in the fresh air for the first
time in his very short life, and to add another first, he makes his first
car journey in the form of the short 12km trip home from Tirschenreuth to
Mitterteich. Mitterteich is to be Cailan's home for the first two to three
months, until he and Korina join me in Bristol to live. |

They have a rather nice and quiet private room, with an adjoining balcony. I

for the birth of my first son, as I was a bit tied up with work in the UK,
though I did attend as soon as actively possible, and flew over today to be
at Korina's side... whilst she changes the nappies and feeds the little one,

Well the day that we have been
waiting for, for nine months is finally upon us... today is the day that god
has decided to lighten our lives with our newborn baby son. Cailan was born
at 22:47 in Tirschenreuth, Bayern, Germany weighing 3360g/7lb 4oz and at
52cm/20.5" in length. He currently has light blonde hair and blue eyes...
but these are susceptible to change as we all know! So he looks like a true
German at the moment, but I am sure we can educate that out of him.
Unfortunately Korina had to have a Caesarean to assist in the birth, as the
wee one didn't fancy making an appearance so early... so he was delivered
via the sunroof. Cailan's full name is to be Cailan Alexander Voyle, and it
is intended that he will retain dual nationality of both German and British,
so a bit of an Anglo BritDeutsch effort between Korina and myself. For those
of you wondering where Cailan came from... and I mean the name; it is
officially Gaelic, meaning Child, and we pronounce it "Kay-Lan".

Easter celebration pub crawl in Clifton. Where we all let our hair down
(chance would be a fine thing) and enjoy the end of the first quarter of the
working year. There was a number of the Airbus UK Manufacturing Systems
Engineering teams there, including Structures, Systems, and of course
ourselves... from the Technology Applications Team. Too many names to
mention as always, though the highlights were... Anthony Ricketts, Nicholas

Joined in with the Brunel 200
celebrations in Bristol with my parents, including a number of events staged
around the City, and the extravaganza of the Firework and Light display at
his most famous masterpiece, the Clifton Suspension Bridge. On the Saturday
8 April, the eve of Brunel’s birthday, there was a free stage show and
spectacular firework display in Bristol linked to the switching on of the
new lighting system at the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Performers on the main
stage at Observatory Hill on the Clifton Downs included Brunel Brass, Acta
community theatre, Bristol Choral Society, Dance Bristol, Andy Sheppard and
200 saxophonists. Thousands gathered there and down in the Cumberland Basin
to view the switching on of the lights and the fireworks, just where we were
on Hotwells Road. |

Tonight was the night of the NC
Programming / Technology Applications Team night out in Bristol, to introduce two new
members into the team and to watch the Juventus v Arsenal Champions League
Quarter Final game. We manage to do a few bars in town in what was a fairly
quiet midweek affair, but a nice evening just the same. |

Met up with some of the guy's
from work, and specifically a revisiting Max Wunderlich from Varel in
Germany. Max decided to pop over to Bristol for a couple of days holiday...
as you do! and of course meet up with some of his former work colleagues and
friends from Bristol. We managed to eat early on with an old British
Tradition of a Curry, then hit a few bars in the Clifton area. Unfortunately
we arrived a little late and had to leave a little early, due to pressing
work commitments. But at least we made the effort, see you next time Max... |

digital camera, basically just because my old camera was becoming a bit
dated, and so to catch up with technology slightly. So from now onwards all
digital photographs within the website will be from my new Canon Ixus 750,
offering upto 7.1mp, as opposed to my previous Sony Cybershot DSC-P5 which
was a 3.2mp. |

My parents came to Bristol for
the weekend on Saturday, and we took in a lot of restaurants and bars in our
long search for the perfect venue to watch the Wales game on the Sunday.
Which inevitably ended up being Walkabout as usual. But we did try hard for
it not to be, and the weekend included visits to O'Neill's, Slug & Lettuce,
Zeebar, Cyrano's, Riverside Oriental, The Hole In The Wall, Walkabout, and
That Mexican Place. |

Made a pilgrimage to the footie
tonight to see Wigan v Arsenal in the Carling Cup Semi-Final First Leg. It
was a pretty disappointing affair, with very little goalmouth action and a
narrow 1-0 victory for the home team. The most entertaining part of the
night seemed to be the short lived floodlight failure just after
half-time... well it got the Wigan fans cheering! Mind, I did get to sample
one of Wigan's famous culinary delights... in the form of a Poole's Meat
Pie, it was beautiful as they say up North! |

Had a great weekend in Prague as

at the Sazka Arena in Prague. It put a real dampener on the weekend, and
left us with a free evening to fill. The concerts have been postponed until
the 23rd and 24th November, which it seems unlikely that we will be able to
attend. |

Well I we are off to Prague today
for the weekend, for a bit of sightseeing, shopping, and to be entertained
by the great food, even better beer, and the Phil Collins Concert at the
Sazka Arena on the Monday night. We will then be visiting a couple of other
towns in the Czech Republic before heading off to Germany for the rest of
the week. I will be returning to the UK on Sunday 30th. |

some of the pop acts whom were playing at the event, including Girls Aloud.
Although the girls little skirts were not the only highlight of the

I started back to Physio today,
after an 18 month break, as recommended by my Consultant. Basically just to
assist in some extra muscle growth on my right leg, and to ensure that I am
keeping up with, and doing my fitness routines correctly... as opposed to
just drinking beer and eating kebabs all of the time! I also Booked our trip to
London today for the Live 8 concert at Hyde Park. |

going with Darren Williams and Martin Gwildies, who are work colleagues and

2nd July. I wasn't too bothered in the beginning, but now I am quite looking forward to the event, having seen the confirmed

John, Joss Stone, Keane, The Killers Madonna,Mariah Carey, Ms. Dynamite,

Sisters, Snoop Dogg, Snow Patrol, Stereophonics, Sting, Travis, U2 and
Velvet Revolver... plus maybe more to follow, as long as it is hopefully not

Family. I spent the entire weekend, week leading upto and after in Bristol
partying. My parents also came up for the Saturday & Sunday to join in with
the celebrations commiserations. |

I have an appointment today to see
my consultant surgeon at Swansea Morriston Hospital for X-Rays, and a final assessment consultation concerning
the operations on my ankle, femur, and pelvis, so this should be the final
time that I visit him, or any other consultant. It has been a long road to
travel, but it looks like I have finally passed the finishing post. My
treatment and consultation started due to a car accident that I was involved in on the 8th
March 2003, and I have now completed my treatment 114 weeks later... it's
taken a
long time like! |

Well back from my trip to Munich,
had a fantastic time as always, and was very fortunate to share in some
fantastic weather. We made the most of the early summer, by spending a great
deal of time in the numerous beer gardens, and a sun burning Sunday at the
Seehaus in the Englischer Garten. So to sum up, it was a long weekend of
Fairs, Maβes, Schweinehaxe, and Oompah Bands! |

While at the West Factory (A380)
in Airbus - Broughton, I was fortunate enough to meet the Prime Minister
Tony Blair, the Chancellor Gordon Brown, and the head of the Welsh assembly,
Rhodri Morgan; as well as a number of other signatories. It was just a spot
of luck really, as it was a bit of a surprise visit by them. They were on
the Election trail, and trying to create some good vibes about British
manufacturing, after the collapse of MG Rover. I managed to get a couple of
words and a hand shake with Tony & Gordon, whilst they were touring the
factory. I was hoping to try to persuade Mr Brown to give us hard working
subbies a bit of a tax break, and maybe scrap this ridiculous threat of
IR35! |

I am back up at Airbus in
Broughton again next week, basically the same deal as last week. Fly up
Monday, then back on the Thursday, staying in the same hotel everything. I
am hoping to meet up with Tracy & Jon Bray on the Monday evening for a bit
of a shin-dig in Chester. |

I was at Airbus in Broughton -
Chester from Monday 4th to Thursday 7th of April. I flew from Airbus in Filton - Bristol
on the
Monday morning, and returned in the early evening on the Thursday. I stayed
at The Mill Hotel in Chester for the 3 nights between, and met up with a few
of my old mates in the form of Jon Bray and Mark Davies. |

- Chester on Tuesday 29th March for a meeting concerning Model
Data Management. We are flying from Airbus in Filton - Bristol in the
morning, and returning in the early evening. |

Well I am back from my trip to
Seattle - Washington, we all had a terrific time, it was a very successful
trip in terms of business and socialising. I am eagerly looking forward to
my next visits, which should occur in May and August of this year. Hopefully
then, I will have a little more free time to see all the wonderful sights
that the area has to offer, and to take some pictures for the Gallery; as
unfortunately on this occasion we were mainly tied up with work during the
day's, and only had some free time during the evenings. |

I am going away on a Business
Trip today with some colleagues from
Airbus, to
Electro Impact in Seattle.
There are eight of us on the trip in total, we have a direct flight from
Heathrow to Seattle at 14.05 with
BA, arriving at 15.40 the same day, with
our return on Thursday at 18.30 from Seattle, arriving at Heathrow at 12.00
on Good Friday. |

Attended Bob Wilson's funeral at 2.00pm. The service
was at St Simon & St Jutes Church in Earl Shilton,
Leicestershire, we then went onto the Crematorium in Nuneaton, afterwards there
was a reception at Bob's local
Constitution Club, back in Earl Shilton. |

I had an appointment today to see
my consultant surgeon at Swansea Morriston Hospital for X-Rays, and an
assessment consultation concerning the operation on my right Femur
undertaken in the beginning of November. The operation seems to have been a
complete success, and the bone is knitting extremely well. I have a further
and maybe final appointment for the 17th May 2005. |

Korina flew back to Munich, after
her 16 day stay in Bristol. She visited a number of museums and events in
Bristol and Bath, along with countless restaurants and bars. I think that
that she enjoyed herself... having seen my credit card bills! |

Went to Bristol Zoo today, a so
called must do... in any Bristol Guidebook. I have to say... I was extremely
disappointed! the Zoo is very nice, and laid out extremely well, but it
lacks the star attractions to be honest. For instance there are no Tigers,
Elephant, Giraffe, Rhino etc, the main attractions are the Lions, and the
Seal and Penguin pool, which has an underwater viewing area. All the kids
there seemed to be enjoying themselves, but there were a few voices of
discontent to be heard. Amazingly Bristol Zoo Gardens was awarded the
prestigious title of Zoo of the Year by the Good Britain Guide in 2004.

Made a day trip to Bath, mainly
to visit the Museum of the 2,000 year old Roman Baths and Pumphouse, as the
last time we visited Bath, they were being refurbished. We also went for a
little bit of a look around, and to do a bit of shopping. Click

have seen him since his wedding, back in August 2002. Doesn't time fly! I am

I just wanted to add the
very sad news of the passing of a very good friend and work colleague of
mine, Mr Robert (Bob) Wilson. He unfortunately died on Monday 14th February
2004. Bob will be greatly missed by everybody who had the fortune to have
met him. The picture below, is

Made the rather wind swept walk
across the famous Brunel Suspension Bridge in Clfiton - Bristol. The bridge
was built over a 150 years ago, and spans across the Avon Gorge, The bridge
was designed by the then 24 year old Isambard Kingdom Brunel whom was
appointed project engineer – his first major commission. Click

Well I have an apartment now in
Bristol City Centre, so will be spending a lot more time up there now,
testing out the bars, restaurants and other entertainment venues. It is in a
terrific location, well as good as it gets in Bristol! I mean, it's not New
York like! It is right by Hard Rock Bar, Edwards, O'Neill's, Yates's, as
well as many more. It is also ideally located near Bristol University, the
Hippodrome Theatre, Imax, and Jongleurs. |

I have been offered the position as a CNC Programmer / Programming
Systems Development Engineer at Airbus UK in Filton - Bristol, that I had an
interview for on Monday, and should be starting the contract on 4th January
2005. The contract is for an initial 18 month period, but could last for
upto 2 years, I will be working on the A400M Military Aircraft Project,
producing the main wing assemblies. |

my consultant surgeon at Swansea Morriston Hospital for X-Rays, and an
assessment consultation concerning the operation on my right Femur
undertaken in the beginning of November. The operation seems to have been a
complete success, and the bone is knitting extremely well. I have now been
given the go ahead to put full weight through my right leg, and so can
gradually (over christmas) stop using the crutches forever. I have a further
appointment for the 8th February 2005, then another 12 weeks later... then
finished! |

I was in Swansea Morriston
Hospital again today, to have the dressings and staples (stitches) removed
from the operational entry positions. I also saw my consultant, and all
seems to have gone well. I have to go back again now in another 4 weeks, for
X-Rays, and hopefully then I will get the all clear to start walking without
the crutches... just in time for the Christmas Festivities! |

Well I survived! I was discharged
from Swansea Morriston hospital today, as anticipated. I had my operation
last wednesday; I was in theatre for 5 1/2 hours, so quite a while, but
apparently that is quite normal for replacements, as they require the extra
time to remove the previous nail. I will be on crutches now, for around 6
weeks, for further details see the

Well I am back from my short trip
to Germany. We managed to visit: Munich, Mitterteich, Bayreuth, Rosenheim &
Oberaudorf. Highlights of the trip were the visit to the Richard Wagner
Festspielhaus in Bayreuth, and the Genesis Tonight Lasershow at the
Planetarium in Munich. |

I am making a small tour of
Germany from the 3rd - 8th March 2004, which should include visits to
Munich, Bayreuth and the Bavarian Alps. |
