I have to say, I
am absolutely lovin the latest series of Shameless...
episode 16 already! It
is the sixth series, and the story lines are as crazy and far reaching as
ever. It really is a case of what the hell is going to happen
next, they
ensure that there are no storylines untold from the lifestyles of Brits
in
the naughty's, and certainly don't hold back in their graphical

| 27.04.2009 | Looks like being a bit of an hectic month coming in May, with the May Bank Holiday weekend on the lash with me mates, then the following weekend, it is off to Liverpool to see Everton, as well as a few of the City's Pubs. After that it is Italy, with stop off's in Naples, Paestum, and Pompeii to catch some historic Roman and Greek ruins, and to see my Sister, Nephew's and Niece. Then it is my Birthday and the Whitsun Holiday which is to be spent in Munich, at the Hofbrauhaus and Andechs Monastry Brewery, as well as a few of my old haunts... finally the months is going to be ended off with the Cup Final between Everton and Chelsea, hopefully from Wembley... if I can get a ticket! Watch this space... well the one above anyhow! | |

| 22.01.2009 | A night out on the Town in Bristol with some guy's from work. Just a bit of a post Christmas get together, to cheer everyone up after all the depressing news about job losses and the like. | |
| 19.01.2009 | Out for a few beers down the pub straight from work to watch the Mersey Derby. Come on the Toffees... | |
| 17.01.2009 | Another Saturday morning in work unfortunately, and then straight home for a spot of electrical work and decorating. | |
| 10.01.2009 | A few beers out with me mates in Treorchy., with the a pub crawl around the usual bars. | |
| 10.01.2009 | Well my first Saturday morning in work for this year, sure it won't be the last. | |
| 23.12.2008 | Well the travel was pretty good, only slightly delayed departure from Amsterdam to Nuremberg, and our luggage arrived with us too, which is a result. So it is onto Nuremberg to the Christmas Market, which means that there will be photos to follow. | |
| 23.12.2008 | Well the travel was pretty good, only slightly delayed departure from Amsterdam to Nuremberg, and our luggage arrived with us too, which is a result. So it is onto Nuremberg to the Christmas Market, which means that there will be photos to follow. | |
| 23.12.2008 | It's off to Germany then, with plenty of problematic travelling on the way, especially travelling with KLM. So it is off to Cardiff Airport, then a flight from CWL to Amsterdam, then onto Nuremberg. I will be travelling along with my Mother on this occasion, as she is spending Christmas in Germany with us too. It will be the first time that she has spent Christmas outside of the UK, but I guess times are a changing... | |
| 22.12.2008 | Last day in work before the festive period, with a lunchtime trip to the pub to celebrate. | |
| 20.12.2008 | Another Pre-Christmas night out on the town, this time in Treorchy with me mates. It also gives us a last chance to send off Big Neil, before his pending move to Canada. | |
| 18.12.2008 | The weeks celebrations continue, with the works Christmas night out down town in Bristol City Centre, kicking off at the Cottage, then a short water taxi to the centre and onto Corn Street. From there it is off to the Waterfront, and wherever we can get to on foot from there... | |
| 16.12.2008 | Works Christmas Lunch, down the local curry house. not quite turkey with the trimmings, but a helping of Chicken Tikka Karahi and a Nan will do just fine, washed down with a couple of pints of Kingfisher. | |
| 13.12.2008 | A quiet weekend planned around some of my local pubs with me mates. Taking it easy before the build up to Christmas. Offski on the 23rd, flying from Cardiff to Nuremberg via Amsterdam, so some beers on the way... | |
| 07.12.2008 | It was a great concert last night, the first time that I have seen the Phonics since Live8, and the first time on their own since way back in '99, at the now legendary 'Morfa' gig. The tour is to celebrate the release of their greatest hits album 'Decade In The Sun'. All the songs on the album were performed, along with many others, culminating in 'Local Boy in a Photograph' and 'Dakota'. The crowd were a pretty rowdy bunch, as with most Phonics gigs, and especially due to the fact that it was a Saturday, and many had been out in town during the day, and even more were off out on the town after the show. So pretty much a party atmosphere, where the beer flowed freely, and assisted by a bit of a discount on some beers, with a pound off a pint! Awesome!!! Nearly forgot 9/10, though really tempted to give a 9.5,,, | |
| 06.12.2008 | Well the night of the Stereophonics gig at the CIA in Cardiff, should be a great concert, celebrating the with the home coming of the band. | |
| 04.12.2008 | Work is looking rather precariously at the moment, and amazingly it has nothing to do with the economic downturn, or recession. None of that has any effect upon this project, It is simply down to delays in technology, huge delays in fact (18 months), which could cost a large number of jobs. | |
| 03.12.2008 | Fully enjoyed the concert last night, well as much as you can when you are on your todd. Deacon Blue were really good, and stood up to expectations, playing a few of their hits from the eighties. I was slightly disappointed with Simple Minds. though maybe I am being a little too fussy. They started superbly, with 'Waterfront,' then the middle of the set just passed me by, as they played other songs from their 30years of touring, before finishing very strongly, with a trio of big hitters, in the form of 'Don't You Forget About Me', 'Belfast Child', and 'Alive and Kicking'. I would say a 7/10 would be a fair assessment. So next up it is the Stereophonics on home soil, next Saturday... | |
| 02.12.2008 | It's Simple Minds tonight, at the CIA, with Deacon Blue supporting. Looks like I will be attending alone, as originally Korina was supposed to be still in town, but a change of plan scuppered that, then it appeared likely that one of me mates would be accompanying, but that has gone a bit pear shaped too, so looks like only me. | |
| 30.11.2008 | A return to Bristol for Korina, Cailan, and Myself. This time it is to the Airport, as the missus and the wee laddie return to Germany, ready for the Christmas festivities. My Mother and Myself will follow on the 23rd December. I finished the rest of the day off, in true British form, with a trek around a few DIY establishments, for some paint and stuff. | |
| 29.11.2008 | Had a shopping day out in Bristol, at the new Cabot Circus shopping centre in the City, with Korina, Cailan, and My Mother. We stopped off for a light bite at the Christmas Market at Castle Park, where a few Bavarian sausages were munched through, and washed down with some Gluhwein. Also went for a wee wander around me old stamping ground! Managed to get back home just in time to catch the second hald of the Wales v Australia Rugby International. | |
| 23.11.2008 | The end of a quiet weekend, with the afternoon spent at the Winter Wonderland in Cardiff, including a couple of rides on Santa's Sleigh for Cailan (didn't fancy it myself), then it was a family outing on the BIG Wheel (where unfortunately I managed to sit in a puddle of rain water, so a rather damp undercarriage for the rest of the afternoon), with panoramic views across Cardiff and up into the South Wales Valley's. We also stayed for a spot of lunch, Sunday Roast (Beef) for myself, Korina tucked into a SteakBurger topped with Cheese, Bacon, and Salad. Whilst Cailan plodded through a Roast Pork and Stuffing Roll. Decided to give the skating a miss... again, as I already had a wet bum! | |
| 22.11.2008 | Spent the early evening in watching the Wales v New Zealand Rugby International from the Millennium Stadium, just up the road. We were going to venture out into town in the evening, but after the last international evening that we went out, we decided to give it a miss. Didn't really fancy an evening drinking from plastic glasses, being pushed from pillar to post. | |
| 20.11.2008 | A night out in Bristol to celebrate Charlies Birthday, kicking off at the Commercial Rooms, then onto a few bars in King Street. Culminating in a few cocktails at Chicago Rock. Last train home for me, at 1:30am, with a bacon sarnie and a coffee for an early breakfast. | |
| 07.11.2008 | Bought some tickets for the Snow Patrol Concert at the Cardiff International Arena in March. Should be a pretty cool gig. Also hoping to get some tickets for the Killers gig in February, though it is already SOLD OUT! So we will have to see... | |
| 03.11.2008 | So it's off to the Bryan Adams Concert tonight, at the CIA. A full twelve years since I saw him last, and at the very same venue. we had standing tickets for the concert, and sand along, with a few beers in hand. It was a totally awesome concert, the whole thing was pretty much spot on, as you would expect from a total professional. A truly great act, and a tough one to beat for Simple Minds, and the Stereophonics in the next few weeks, but we will see... 9/10. | |
| 03.11.2008 | The tiling of my Kitchen floor is eventually completed, along with my Bathroom, and En Suite. | |
| 01.11.2008 | We are all off to the Cardiff Round Circle "Sparks in the Park", at Coopers Field, located just behind Cardiff Castle, up near the Weir. It was a pretty wet and blustery affair to be honest, I was quite surprised that it went ahead. Cailan quite enjoyed it, whilst the rest of us could not wait to get back home into the warm. Firework display was pretty impressive on the whole, and was a good 20 to 25minutse. | |
| 31.10.2008 | Korina and Cailan fly in from Nuremberg for a month long stay in Cardiff, prior to the festive season, which we will be spending in Germany. | |
| 29.10.2008 | Well the Tiler has started, so lets hope he will finish! Just having some replacement tiling on the Kitchen, and Bathroom floors. | |
| 19.10.2008 | The prodigals return. | |
| 18.10.2008 | The Thames Crawl... | |
| 17.10.2008 | Today we head of for what has been an highly anticipated weekend in London, even after the events of the past week or so. There are 18 of us in all on tour, and we are staying at the Thistle Hotel Kensington Gardens. | |
| 14.10.2008 | Today is a day I hoped I would never see, or at least not for a long while, my Father's Funeral. | |
| 07.10.2008 | An absolutely devastating day today, for myself and the family, as my Father most unfortunately passed away. Don't really wish to write too much at this moment in time... | |
| 28.09.2008 | Day 4 at the fest, and the last day for us too. Heading back home this evening, so just grabbing a quick beer and some food before heading to the Airport. Probably not the place to go for a quick one really, as it was pretty hectic, due to the improved weather. | |
| 27.09.2008 | Day 3 at the fest, also it is Saturday, so notoriously crazy. We decided to have a bit of a quiet stroll around, and didn't even do a proper beer tent. Headed into Cafe Rischart instead. | |
| 26.09.2008 | Day 2 at the fest, and certainly the biggest drinking day. Meeting up with Martin and the Irish lads, for yet another doing at the fest, green hats everywhere, and many lasses clinging to the shirt tails. There was a table booked for today, at the Schottenhammel tent. On arrival, there were a few surprise additions, in the form of Grant, and a few new found friends too. Had quite a few beers there until the early evening, where we mixed in with some of the tru Bavarians, then headed of the Hacker Bierkeller overlooking the Wiesn. Obviously we headed to Killians afterwards, and that is where the hats went a missing, as did the inhabitions. | |
| 25.09.2008 | Day 1 at the fest, with Korina, Cailan, and Myself. We headed for the Hacker Pschorr tent, which is annually decorated out in pale Bayern Blue Clouds. We had a couple of Maβes here, and a bit of lunch (Hendl), before heading out into the fairground. From there onwards, it was the Big Wheel, a couple of Carousel's for Cailan, and a few liveners in the form of Nymphenburg Sekt. | |
| 24.09.2008 | Well the flights and hotel are booked, as is our table, at this years Oktoberfest! So we head off to Munich via Heathrow Terminal 5 with BA, for what will be my 8th fest, and Cailan's 2nd. Korina is already into double figures, so is just adding to her tally. On this occasion, we are staying on the far eastern outskirts of Munich, in the region of thy Messe. | |
| 21.09.2008 | Well it's been a fabulous weekend so far, certainly can't complain about the weather. Maybe we are going to have an "Indian Summer" after all. Spent the morning shopping, looking around for floor tiles for the Kitchen, bathroom , and En-Suite. Then had a look around the town, prior to relaxing with some lunch and a few beers sitting in the sun in Cardiff Bay. A pretty quiet laid back weekend, with no specific events organised... in preparation for the Fest next week! | |
| 20.09.2008 | Went down to Penarth for a bit of a wander around in the sunshine during the morning, called off for a beer nearer to lunchtime at "The Railway" on the way home. Returned to to the City for lunch at Zerodegrees, washed down with their MicroBrewed Pilsener and a Mango Beer. Had a sun dazed wander around the town, lovely... | |
| 19.09.2008 | Had an unintentional day off work today, after the late return from the night out before. I didn't get in until around 2.30ish, after a night out in Bristol, and although I felt pretty good hangover wise, during to the lack of it. I was absolutely shattered. So anyhow, decided to have the day off. I thought it would be fairly acceptable, especially as I was supposed to be on holidays all of next week, and now that as been changed, with me in work on Monday and Tuesday. So it was off out around the bay, a bit of lunch with Korina and Cailan, a nice chilled bottle of the Vino de Grape, a boat cruise in the sunshine, a stroll along the barrage via the adventure playground, and home for tea. | |
| 18.09.2008 | Another leaving do in work, and therefore another night out in Bristol. Though tonight, decided not to stay overnight, and am going to catch the train home, either at 22:55 or at 01:30. So that's 01:30 organised then, and it's off to the Cottage down on the Water first, then across to the Pump House, before heading up into Clifton for a livener at the Alma Tavern, and a Curry next door in Bombay Dreams. After food it is across to Whiteladies Road, and onto The Hill before heading down Park Street and to the Waterfront into BSB. Then a leisurely stroll to temple Meads, a bit of a nod on the train, along with a Bacon Sarnie and a cup of Coffee to try to delay the coma. Actually felt pretty good on arrival in Cardiff, and the chilly walk home certainly woke me up. | |
| 14.09.2008 | Made a visit to Billy Smart's Circus at Sophia Gardens. The intention was that it would be a nice bit of entertainment for Cailan, but I have to say, that the adults probably enjoyed it even more. It is pretty spectacular stuff to be fair, especially the trapeze acts. And if you do go, do not be thrown by the not so awe inspiring arena, this is just a disguise for what is a terrific afternoon of entertainment. Also compare this to the cost of taking your family to the footie, and I promise you, this is serious value for money, at around £13 per adult ticket, and a tenner for a child. | |
| 13.09.2008 | Went to see Cardiff City v Bristol City at Ninian Park, in the Coca Cola Championship, with my Father. The game was fairly entertaining, but ended in disappointment yet again, as many footie game that I attend does, in the form of a nil-nil draw. Anyhow, I got to visit Ninian Park for what will probably be the last time prior to it's demolition, and City's move across the road into their new Stadium. It was off out into town for the evening, well for Korina and I anyway. My parents were left babysitting. Tonight's entertainment is to be taken in at Ha Ha Bar, Tiger Tiger, Barrocco, and the new but not so fabulous Retro Lounge. | |
| 12.09.2008 | My parents are staying with us for the weekend, to take in some of the delights that Cardiff have to offer, and to baby sit tomorrow night... | |
| 07.09.2008 | A nice relaxing weekend spent after our return from Tenerife. | |
| 06.09.2008 | Returned back from Tenerife. | |
| 05.09.2008 | In the pool. It sure is gonna be a long long day, and and even longer night. We do not leave the hotel for the Airport until 22:40, for our 01:30 flight from Tenerife to Cardiff. | |
| 04.09.2008 | Tenerife. Boat trip on Freebird 1 to see some dolphins and turtles. In the pool in the afternoon. | |
| 03.09.2008 | Tenerife. | |
| 02.09.2008 | Went for a wander around Playa de las Americas. Got acosted by a Club la Costa rep. Tenerife. | |
| 01.09.2008 | Loro Parque. Awesome. | |
| 31.08.2008 | On the Beach. | |
| 30.08.2008 | Beach bum, and poolside.. | |
| 29.08.2008 | It is the end of another rather hectic and crazy week, but this time it is also time to head off to sunnier climes, and so therefore nos da to Cardiff and Ciao to Tenerife. | |
| 24.08.2008 | Blenheim Palace and Oxford it is, both full of Blue Blood. | |
| 23.08.2008 | Heading to Stratford upon Avon, to try to catch up on some Old English Culture, and wander around the picturesque Shakespeerian town with all the other touristy types. We are not staying in Stratford, just spending the day. We are heading to Heythrop later in the afternoon, it lies perfectly between Chipping Norton on the far East of the Cotswolds, and Woodstock. Meaning a nice afternoon country drive along the winding Cotswolds Roads, slipping through the delightful villages on the way. Woodstock is the home of Blenheim Palace, where we are intending on visiting tomorrow, prior to heading off to Oxford. for the evening. | |
| 22.08.2008 | Decided to head off for the bank holiday weekend, but not too far, and certainly not on Crazy Friday. So therefore is is ofski bright and early to try to beat the remainder of the corned beef tins, which will be making a surge tomorrow. | |
| 21.08.2008 | Well the summer bank holiday is nearly here. What pleasantries of weather will it bring? | |
| 18.08.2008 | A very rare week day off work, where lots of things are planned, all those little things that have been put off for weeks, but as usual, the day passes in the blink of an eye, all my outstanding chores are further postponed, and it is back to work. Though I did get to spend a little more time with the family, and managed a little shopping, as well as organisation of my paperwork. I always find it a little strange whenever I am out and about shopping, and not in work during a work day. It gives you that sense of feeling that you are doing something inherently wrong, as you wander aimlessly around high street stores with the older generation, dole scroungers and single mums. | |
| 17.08.2008 | Decided to make a visit to Llandaf Cathedral, and the surround Cardiff Borough of Llandaf. The first time I have visited the Cathedral. Passed it many times though. Anyhow, it was quite a pleasant day out, and I guess the most amazing thing about the Cathedral, is that it lies at the bottom of a steep hill, in what appears to be a hole. You have to descend a series of steps on entry. We decided to have a small picnic on the Cathedral Green, prior to heading back to the Bay. Spent the rest of the afternoon just relaxing on the waterfront. | |
| 16.08.2008 | Spent the late morning and afternoon in the City, as well as a very pleasant luncheon at La Tasca, for a little Spanish Tapas, and a bottle of the white grape. It decided to p*ss down for the rest of the afternoon and early evening, and luckily stopped just after Korina and I headed out to Town around 10. Did a couple of bars in town... Crunch, Barocco, Edwards, The Square etc, before hading home around 1am. So only a 3 hour stint. | |
| 15.08.2008 |
My parents are staying for the
weekend, so they can catch up with Cailan's recent activities, and also so
they can baby sit tomorrow night, enabling a few hours out and about the
city of sin. Bought a couple of tickets today for the Stereophonics concert
at the CIA on Saturday 6th December. Perhaps I might actually go this time
too... "17th July 2007 - Purchased 2 tickets for the Stereophonics Concert at the CIA, obviously in Cardiff for Sunday 18th November 2007. It will be the first time that I have seen the Phonics, since they played at Live8 in July 2005. I have very fond memories of the first time that I saw them live, at the now famous gig from Morfa Stadium in Swansea, during May 1999. A lot has happened over the past eight years... to all of us!" "17th November 2007 - Decided not to go to the Phonics concert tomorrow night, as I originally bought two tickets for Korina and Myself, But as she is not over at the moment, I have gone off the idea a little. So I am going to sell them on to some happy camper in the form of... Ozborne and Son!" |
|
| 14.08.2008 | We made the serious mistake of going for a meal to Harry Ramsden's in Cardiff Bay this evening. I have never been to a Ramsden's before, so I thought why not make a visit for a change. Though seriously wish I hadn't afterwards, the service was extremely poor, we ended up with a rather warm bottle of white wine, and nearly every meal has something missing from it, compared to how it was described within the menu, and as for presentation... Add to that the rather inflated prices of £10 for an average size haddock and chips with mushy peas, and you are around double the price of your local chippy, where I wish I had gone afterwards. | |
| 10.08.2008 | Strolled the City and Bay in search of life changing entertainment... nevermind! Just a quiet weekend really, marred by a fair spattering of rain. I have noticed there appears to be a new fashion statement going on this summer in the UK... Sandals? (nothing new there), with shorts (really trend setting), and a T-Shirt (whatever next!), with a Golf Umbrella in hand, just in case! The way things are going, we could quite possibly see Goggles and a Snorkel by next year... | |
| 09.08.2008 | I am not sure how to describe the Saturday really other than... Wash Out! What an August... | |
| 03.08.2008 | A bit of shopping was undertaken in the morning around the City, then it was home for lunch, prior to heading to the bay for a wee stroll across the barrage to Penarth. Weather turned a little sour in the early evening, and started to rain. Preventing the first flight of my new kite! Nevermind, there is always next weekend... | |
| 02.08.2008 | Spent the day at the Admiral Cardiff Big Weekend in the gardens of the Civic Centre, including live bands, beer stalls, eateries, and a pretty substantial fairground. It was pretty nice lying on the grass in the sun with a chilled beer and a Bratwurst in hand. It was like the good old day's back in the Englischer Garten. Anyhow, a pretty nice day out, with lots of fun and relaxation (when Cailan had his nap). | |
| 02.08.2008 | Booked a last minute summer break for a week in Tenerife. Heading off on the 29th of August, and returning the following Friday. A typical 4* Half Board affair, didn't really fancy going full or ai. Not a big fan of hangin about the hotel all day trying to make the most of all that money I have already spent. Anyhow, should be okay! The intention is to blend it in with a couple of weekend breaks either side. Not too sure where as of yet, but Paris, Venice and Barcelona are all in the frame, as they always are. | |
| 28.07.2008 | We dined out for an early evening meal washed down with a bottle of wine and some cocktails at Las Iguanas in the City Centre. Don't usually head out on a Monday night, but fancied a bit of a change, also the intention was to catch an outdoor meal, prior to the return of the rainy season. Unfortunately a little too late... | |
| 27.07.2008 | On the Sunday, we popped down to a very hot and sweltery Barry Island for a few hours, sat on the beach a bit, and even entered the sea. Who would have though it hey. Can't remember the last time I was in the sea at Barry, must have been a wee nipper. | |
| 26.07.2008 | Unfortunately I had to work again on the Saturday morning, but enjoyed relaxing a little bit for the rest of the day. Korina and I went to the Bay in the Evening to see the WOW... or as I would better describe it... Why Oh Why! It was some French Street Theatre of a sort, not particularly entertaining really, though the fireworks that followed were pretty cool, as were the beers preceding and the cocktails afterwards at Salt, Dim Sim, and Terra Nova. We were quite fortunate, as my parents baby sat for Cailan, therefore enabling us to spend a very rare night out. | |
| 20.07.2008 | Kicked the day off with another full English Breakfast, and headed down to The Mall for the Changing of the Guard. A rather customary tour of duty for all London tourists. Cailan was not too impressed mind, and much preferred the dance down the Mall to Admiralty Arch after all the crowds had left. We had a bit of a look around some of the shops in Regent Street on the way back, broken up with a stop off for lunch, and a few beers before heading back to Cardiff. So the weekend in London was part of a dual purpose stay. Partly to just spend a fun weekend, and partly as a stop off from the travelling, on the way home from Heathrow. Korina and Cailan will be staying over for a couple of months, well until Oktoberfest. So they will be spending the rest of the summer in the UK, apart from some foreign breaks in between. | |
| 19.07.2008 | As we were touring London with Cailan for the first time, and knowing the access issues and serious lack of facilities on the Underground for disabled passengers or parents travelling with small children in prams, we decided to travel around the City on an open top bus, courtesy of the BIG Bus Company, and a mere £24 per adult for the day. Though they do throw in a wee boat trip from Tower Bridge to Parliament in, so a real bargain! Anyway, it was a full tour of the many sights including... Marble Arch, Baker Street, Oxford Street, Regents Street, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament Square, London Eye, The Globe Theatre, St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast, Buckingham Palace, Wellington Arch, Mayfair, Harrods etc etc. We were all pretty shattered by the end of it, so spent the evening in the hotel restaurant, where we sampled a few more bottles of the boudeaur de grape. | |
| 18.07.2008 | Having suffered the London Transport system for the day, in one form or another, whether being re-routed by First Great Western, or having to change tubes mid journey on the London Underground, then the rather expensive experience of the Heathrow Express, and finally grid lock in a black cab. It surely doesn't get any better than this! Anyhow, we eventually got back to the hotel, then went for an early evening stroll through Kensington, through Kensington Gardens, with stop off photo shoots at Kensington Palace and the Royal Albert Hall before heading for some food and a well deserved helping of the vino. | |
| 17.07.2008 | It's off to the smoke this weekend... or as the rest of the world will better know it, London. I am travelling up on the Friday morning, then collecting Korina and Cailan from the Airport (Heathrow T5) in the afternoon. Then it's full steam ahead in the form of tourist activities, until we head back on the Sunday evening. We are staying at the Holiday Inn Forum hotel in Kensington. where I have experienced many a fun time in my illustrious past, whether it be with Korina or my Mates on the Jolly Boy's tours. | |
| 12.07.2008 | Stuck in bloody work again! A last minute call of duty, in fact really last minute, with the requirement arriving at 5 minutes to twelve, or as it is better know, five to offski!!! Anyhow, I made sure that work didn't spoil my day, with a day out in the Bay, at the Cardiff Food & DRINK festival. So may a beer, wine, champagne, PIMMS, and spirit were drank, and buried with a freshly spit roast pig and stuffing roll, and a venison burger. | |
| 11.07.2008 | My parents are down again... just can't get rid of them. Well not strictly true, they are down to receive a delivery for me, of some additional furniture. Should be all furnished out soon. | |
| 06.07.2008 | Amazingly I watched the Wimbledon Men's Final of the Tennis today. On TV that is... I'm not totally crazy! The first time in many a year. I only really ended up watching, as I just flicked over to see the score, and got a little enthralled by the excitement. As the rest of the nation did I guess. I was a little disappointed that Federer did nit win, after making such a remarkable comeback, but there we go! Also disappointed to see a screaming girl (Nadal) winning the big prize. It was like watching a throw back of Monica Seles. | |
| 05.07.2008 | Unfortunately I was in work this morning, but as soon as I got home, it was back out for a few beers to continue with the celebrations. | |
| 04.07.2008 | It's my fathers 65th birthday today, so my parents are spending the weekend in Cardiff with me. We are off out into town tonight for a meal and a few drinks to celebrate. | |
| 29.06.2008 | Well it's the final of Euro 2008, obviously there are no British teams left in it at this stage, or even at the start of the three week tournament, to find Europe's best footie team... or luckiest! Well it's Spain v Germany, the perenial underachievers against the true thoroughbreads of tournament football. May the best team win... usually Germany, but quite possibly Spain on this occasion. Anyhow, to celebrate the occasion, I will be out with a couple o mates having a few bevvies! Prost!!! | |
| 27.06.2008 | There was a bit of a celebration within work, to celebrate yesterdays roll out of the A400M, as well as the retirement of the Head of A400M Wingbox Manufacturing at Filton. It was just a bit of a buffet, with a few glasses of sangria, a piece of cake, and some freebies. | |
| 26.06.2008 | Well today is a BIG day for work, where the fruition of the last 3 1/2 years bares itself in the form of the first roll out of the Airbus A400M Versatile Military Airlifter. It is being unveiled in Seville, Spain this afternoon in front of hundreds of dignitaries, and the King of Spain. It is the first newly designed and built military passenger to be built worldwide for 30 years. In case none of you are aware, I have been working on this project for the past few years, on the design integration and manufacture of the wings. As part of the project, there were quite a number of advancements and firsts... for example, the A400M was the first ever (large scale) composite wing structure to be manufactured, before 787. A lot of people don't really see the roll out as such a big milestone for the aircraft, as they interpret the first flight to be the actual bid day, as that is when the world really sees your product in all it's glory. Though the roll out is still a special occasion with all of us, as it is the first time for many people on the program, that they actually see the aircraft in it's entirety, as opposed to just the bit that they make, such as the wings in our case. The first flight should take place in Sept / Oct this year, and should be another momentous day. Until then... | |
| 19.06.2008 | Had a long works night out in Bristol, where I was not on my best behaviour, so it may possibly be one of the last, as it may be time to start to grow old gracefully. | |
| 18.06.2008 | Made a visit to Airbus UK in Broughton, for a bit of an update on the A380 automated assembly process, as well as the introduction of new CAD/CAM/CAE solutions for Offline Programming. | |
| 16.06.2008 | Korina and Cailan returned to Germany after the past month in Cardiff. They should only be away for a month, returning in the middle of July. | |
| 15.06.2008 | Today is Father's Day in the UK, so a nice hand delivered card from our two year old son was the highlight of my day. We spent the morning shopping, before the stop off for the Big Day's lunch at TGI Friday's, where I tucked into a Singapore Sling, an America Grill, and an ultimate Apple Pie. | |
| 14.06.2008 | Spent a day out at Tenby and Saundersfoot on the Pembrokeshire coastline in West Wales. | |
| 13.06.2008 | Booked tickets to see Simple Minds at the Cardiff International Arena on the 2nd December, as part of their 30 Years Live Tour 2008. I have never seen them in concert before, and am quite looking forward to see one of the great eighties bands. We will be hoping to hear such classics as... Alive and Kicking, Don't You (Forget About Me), Belfast Child, and Waterfront. They are also being supported in concert, by another great 80's Scotch band, Deacon Blue. | |
| 07.06.2008 | Booked tickets to see Bryan Adams at the Cardiff International Arena on the 3rd November. It will be twelve years since I saw him last in concert, at the same venue too. It was part of the Summer of '96 tour, a lot has changed since then... | |
| 01.06.2008 | Went for a family day out at Roath Park, where Cailan fully utilised the playground, and then took a wander around the lake. It was then off back to the Bay. | |
| 31.05.2008 | Made a shopping trip to the rather grand surroundings of Newport! well at least it was a bit of a change... | |
| 22.05.2008 | Happy Birthday to Me!!! a rather quiet affair really, quite rightly so when you pass thirty. Though did pop down the pub lunchtime from work with the team for a few liveners. | |
| 18.05.2008 | Spent a rather sunny day out along the South Wales coastline at Porthcawl. | |
| 17.05.2008 | A huge day for the City of Cardiff today, they are playing in the Cup Final for the first time in over 80 years, against Portsmouth at Wembley Stadium. There is quite a lot of optimism in the City concerning their chances of lifting the trophy for the first time since 1927. Also the last time that the FA Cup left England. We will be watching the game in front of the BIG outdoor screen in Cardiff Bay, and hopefully joining in with the celebrations afterwards... | |
| 16.05.2008 | Korina and Cailan arrive for a 1 month stint in Cardiff. So a temporary end to my Bachelor lifestyle. | |
| 15.05.2008 | A work day out at the Royal Air Force Museum in Cosford for the CGTech Vue Day. | |
| 27.04.2008 | Returned back from Germany. Then spent a hard day in work, before it was off to collect the keys to the new appartment. | |
| 25.04.2008 | Officially purchased an apartment in Cardiff Bay in Wales today. All of the paperwork was completed, after months of legal jargon. I have been renting there for a number of months, and attending viewings since June last year, so eventually found somewhere that I wished to purchase. So there we are, sorted! | |
| 25.04.2008 | Happy 2nd Birthday to Cailan, I cannot believe that it has been two years already. It seams like yesterday, when he was just a bump! So it appears that we are starting to set a trend, with his birth in Germany, then 1st Birthday in Wales, 2nd Birthday in Germany, and so on and so on... | |
| 24.04.2008 | Travelled over from Bristol to Nuremberg to see the family, and celebrate Cailan's second birthday. | |
| 13.04.2008 | Photo's added to the Gallery from our trip to Tenby April 2007. | |
| 07.04.2008 | Korina, Cailan and I made a visit to Karlovy Vary and Cheb in the Czech Republic. | |
| 06.04.2008 | We had Sunday lunch at the Alm Hof Restaurant in Mitterteich, Oberfaltz. | |
| 05.04.2008 | Made a bit of a tour around Oberfaltz, visiting Falkenberg, Waldsasen, and Alexanderbad. | |
| 30.03.2008 | Merseyside Derby Day, so a few beers watching the footie with me mates, and hoping that we beat Liverpool, and establish a strong challenge for fourth place in the league. | |
| 25.03.2008 | Returned back to the UK from my Easter break to Germany. The normal deal, with KLM via Amsterdam. | |
| 25.03.2008 | Offered a contract at Fokker Stork in Holland to work on Composite Covering, though have decided to stay at Airbus for the time being. Probably coming to the last 6 months of the contract now, and ready for a bit of a change, which will probably involve returning to mainland Europe. | |
| 24.03.2008 | Travelled back from Dresden to Mitterteich, via Moritzburg Castle, and the famous porcelain City of Meiβen. | |
| 22.03.2008 | Travelling to Dresden today, for a two night stay at the Westin Bellevue Hotel. We will also be celebrating Korina's birthday this evening at a 5* restaurant. | |
| 20.03.2008 | Off to Germany for Easter, with a weekend visit planned to Dresden, and retuning via Colditz Castle. So it will be Mitterteich on Thursday and Good Friday, then off to dresden from Saturday to Monday, Mitterteich on Tuesday, then flying bak to the UK Tuesday evening, | |
| 16.03.2008 | The morning after the crazy Day and Night before. It was absolute mayhem, with celebrations into the early hours. Obviously Wales beat France to win the Grand Slam yesterday, and set of a year of celebrations in my homeland of Wales. It was Wales' 10th Grand Slam, secured 100 years after they won their first, and home fans left to carry on the party of the century. | |
| 15.03.2008 | The day of reckoning for all of Wales has eventually come... today is Grand Slam Saturday!. The day Wales will hopefully win the Grand Slam in the Six Nations Rugby v France at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. | |
| 08.03.2008 | Wales v Ireland at Croke Park, Dublin. Today should give all Welsh fans an insight of whether an unlikely Grand Slam in the RBS Six Nations can be realised, and obviously whether we will win the coveted Triple Crown today, having previously beaten England and Scotland. | |
| 31.12.2007 | Another New Year is on it's way, so to celebrate, Korina and I went out for the evening in Mitterteich to a couple of the local bars for a few bevvies. The intention was to go away for New Year, with | |
| 25.12.2007 | Well Christmas day has come around again... as it inevitably does. Lots of eating, drinking, and cavorting. | |
| 18.11.2007 | Well it's down the pub today to cheer on the Scots against Italy in the Euro 2008 qualifiers. Come on Faddie... | |
| 17.11.2007 | Decided not to go to the Phonics concert tomorrow night, as I originally bought two tickets for Korina and Myself, But as she is not over at the moment, I have gone off the idea a little. So I am going to sell them on to some happy camper, and the lucky person is... Ozborne and Son! | |
| 16.11.2007 | Shaz's last day at Airbus. After nearly 3 years working together on the A400M Project, and with us setting up the Technology Applications Team together, I guess it is left with me to hold the baby. | |
| 15.11.2007 | Shaz's leaving do in Clifton, Bristol. We kicked off with a couple of beers at the Quadrant then moved on for food at the Clifton Sausage before continuing on to Park Street to hit the bars into the early hours. | |
| 14.11.2007 | Happy 4th Birthday to... nooneels.com, amazingly the fourth anniversary of the the websites first day online! | |
| 11.11.2007 | Photo's added to the Gallery from our lads trip to Ayia Napa October 2007. | |
| 30.10.2007 | Flew back to Cardiff after a long weekend in Nuremberg and Mitterteich, Germany. | |
| 27.10.2007 | Today Korina, Cailan and I were graciously invited to Norbert and Evi's wedding in Wiesau, Bayern, Germany with the reception in the town of Krondrau, just a few miles away. We went to the wedding and reception with Korina's parents. Prior to being able to attend the celebrations, I had to head off to the shops to get re-kitted out! So all in all it has ended up being a pretty expensive weekend. | |
| 26.10.2007 | Flew over from Cardiff to Nuremberg in Germany for a traditional Bavarian wedding on Saturday. Unfortunately as per the norm with KLM, my luggage did not arrive with me. Normally not a major problem, but as I am going to a wedding tomorrow and need to be all suited up, then... | |
| 20.10.2007 | Unfortunately I am stuck working the weekend, so not much else planned really, apart from watching the Rugby World Cup Final on Saturday evening. | |
| 19.10.2007 | Tonight is the night of the Police concert at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. there is an anticipated crowd of 50,000 people, with the tickets being sold out within an hour. According to the Millennium Stadium this was a record, beating the three hours it took to sell out a show featuring Oasis and the Foo Fighters in 2005. The concert is part of the band's comeback world tour. The gig was originally to be the band's last concert of their European tour, and one of four UK performances, but now an additional night has been added to the tour at Wembley Arena tomorrow. | |
| 14.10.2007 | Well it is the end of my tour of duty... so my return from Napa! | |
| 07.10.2007 | Off for a week to Ayia Napa in Cyprus with the lads. It will probably be my last full lads holiday abroad, now that I am on the wrong side of the 18-30's. So I am going to make the most of it! There are 15 of us in total, with an extremely broad age group of 20 to 60ish. Obviously many a photo will be added to the site in due course. | |
| 01.10.2007 | Returned back to the UK from our travels around Europe. Flew from Nuremberg to Cardiff via Amterdam. | |
| 30.09.2007 | Returned back to the UK from our travels around Europe. | |
| 29.09.2007 | Headed off to the Oktoberfest to meet up with the Irish Lads for a heavy days drinking. Unfortunately we probably left it a bit late in the day, and could not get in any of the tents. So moved onto the Hacker Pschor Keller nearby instead. Got a bit fed up there so headed off to the Augustiner Beer garden on Arnulfstrasse. | |
| 28.09.2007 | Korina, Cailan and I spent the day at the Oktoberfest in the Augustiner Beer tent. It was Cailan's first ever Oktoberfest, at the tender age of 17months. Starting him off early... | |
| 27.09.2007 | Left Bregenz for Munich, to participate in the annual festivities at the Oktoberfest. It will be my seventh visit, and Cailan's first. | |
| 28.09.2007 | Left Milan and headed north for a one night stay in Bregenz, Austria. On the way through the Alps, we passed through a very snowy Switzerland, and stopped off for a late lunch in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. | |
| 18.09.2007 | Left Bregenz for Lugano, Switzerland. | |
| 17.09.2007 | Started our late summer holiday, driving from Mitterteich, Germany to Bregenz in Austria. We have decided to make it a bit of a European Tour visiting Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France, and driving all the way, totalling over 2,200km (1,367miles). | |
| 21.07.2007 | A day out at the Tesco Children's Festival at Coopers Field in Cardiff. There were a number of events held throughout the day, but none surpassed the thrill of "Walking with Robots", and the presence of... | |
| 17.07.2007 | Purchased 2 tickets for the Stereophonics Concert at the CIA, obviously in Cardiff for Sunday 18th November 2007. It will be the first time that I have seen the Phonics, since they played at Live8 in July 2005. I have very fond memories of the first time that I saw them live, at the now famous gig from Morfa Stadium in Swansea, during May 1999. A lot has happened over the past eight years... to all of us! | |
| 14.07.2007 | It is the weekend of the Cardiff Food & Drink Festival, with many wonderous tastes from around the globe. Obviously, as always with these affairs, there is the customary free samples and tasters to wet your appetite, including wines from South Africa, Australia and South America, fantastically flavoured Rum's and Organic Whisky's, and that was just the the apperetif's, the initially quenching was fulfilled by a few local beers and ciders, prior to sampling some locally reared Hog Roast, stuffed to perfection and topped off with Apple. Many other culinary delights were sampled before the day was out, as well as a few after dinner liquers. | |
| 10.07.2007 | Well tonight is the night of the Genesis Concert at the Olympic Stadium in Munich. As previously stated, I have two tickets for this event, but unfortunately am unable to attend, due to work commitments, and the general reluctance to travel in the middle of the week for a concert. Anyhow, inline with the rest of the tour, it absolutely p*ssed down, and yet again, I had open air tickets; which amazingly due to the extremely poor weather conditions leading upto the event, I could not get rid of for Love nor Money. So basically got stuck with €200 of concert tickets. | |
| 08.07.2007 | Tonight, Tonight, Tonight we go into the Land of Confusion at the Home by the Sea for Genesis to Turn it on again Live at Twickenham Stadium in London, cos I know what I like! | |
| 05.07.2007 | As it now appears that I will not be able to attend the Genesis concert in Munich next week, I have purchased tickets for this weekends show at Twickenham, London instead! So Turn It On Again... | |
| 01.07.2007 | Today I purchased 2 tickets for the Police Concert at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Friday 19th October 2007. It is their reunion tour, after 23 years apart, and should be totally awesome. | |
| 13.05.2007 | Well long time no see as far as the website is concerned. Apologies for the extremely long gap since the last update. Have been rather busy, due to work position changes and with re-locating from Bristol to Cardiff, as well as all the other things us mere mortals have to do on a daily basis. So anyhow, here goes with an update to this page obviously and the On Tour Page too. More to follow shortly... | |
| 24.05.2007 | Well it's summer time, and that can only mean one thing... Summer Festivals! For the past couple of years, I have been attending the Summer Festivals of Bristol. Well now a change of scenery for 2007, with the Summer Haf... Cardiff Summer Fest. It kicks of with the German Folk Fest (Beerfest) on the 25th May, and ends with the Cardiff harbour Festival on the August Bank Holiday Monday. In between that there is Circus Minimus, The Vicus - Roman re-enactment, Cardiff Outdoor Action Show, a variety of Open Air Theatres, International Food & Drink fest, the Tesco Children's Festival, WOW on the Waterfront, plus a lot more. So look out for web pages to be added to the Gallery for all the various events or visit cardiff-festivals.com. | |
| 12.05.2007 | Busy trying to plan events and trips for the rest of the year. There appears to be quite a lot to fit in, especially with work getting in the way, as it always does. Events to be planned are Wales versus the Czech Republic and Germany football games for UEFA 2008, as well as two Genesis concerts in Hamburg and Munich. The annual pilgrimage to the Oktoberfest, as well as a special invitation to a wine fest in the Rhineland. Then there is the Jolly Boy's Outing's to the Rugby League Cup Final at Wembley, and the 18-40+'s trip to Ayia Napa in Cyprus. Obviously there will be a few other weekends away to squeeze in, such as Newquay in Cornwall, Liverpool, Rome and Paris. Follow this up with the Family Summer Holidays, a work trip to Seattle, Vancouver and Las Vegas. And it is goodbye year! Oh I forgot, there is also Christmas and New Year to plan too... | |
| 07.05.2007 | Spent the bank holiday Monday on a leisurely stroll around the many bars of Cardiff City Centre and Bay, with my parents. | |
| 05.05.2007 | Unfortunately working this weekend, so nothing exiting planned. | |
| 01.05.2007 | My Father was released from Hospital today with a clean bill of health, though has to return again as an out patient to ensure the ulcer is being managed correctly. As always when anyone has been ill or in Hosi, he has also had is alcohol intake reduced... basically just to p*ss him off probably! Only kidding, for good health reasons, as all of us know, the far reaching evils of the Booze! | |
| 29.04.2007 | Korina and Cailan head back to Germany after their four week stay in Cardiff. | |
| 28.04.2007 | We all went for a Family day out to Tenby, located on the wonderful Pembrokeshire coastline. | |
| 27.05.2007 | Spent a wonderful summery evening in the beer garden of the Ancient Briton and Jolly Sailor at Newton, Porthcawl. | |
| 25.04.2007 | Unfortunately my Father was taken ill, on the way to Cailan's Birthday Party, and had to be admitted to Hospital with internal bleeding (later to be discovered to have been a burst ulcer), he lost around fout pints of blood, and so required a refill (transfusion). Obviously this seriously affected the celebrations, and in essence put them on hold until the weekend. Cailan didn't seem to mind too much, and is not too keen on all these fussy organised events. | |
| 25.04.2007 | Cailan's first birthday... It has amazingly been 365 days since Cailan was born... | |
|
|
||
| 21.04.2007 | Had a day out by the seaside in Barry Island, first time that I have been there for years. I just thought that I would take Cailan to some of the South Wales seaside resorts, which my family used to visit when I was a child. I can remember vividly the many holidays to Barry and Porthcawl, used to be the same thing every summer. I am just waiting for the chance to take him on his first holiday in a Caravan. Then his childhood will have been tarnished as mine was. | |
| 07.04.2007 | What weekend with the wife and kids would be complete... without a shopping expedition! So we headed into Town to purchase all the things that Mother and Baby require, that Daddy forgot... or didn't even know about! | |
| 06.04.2007 | Spent the day showing Korina and Cailan the wonderfully new and vibrant Cardiff Bay, which is officially the largest waterfront development in Europe. | |
| 05.04.2007 | Korina and Cailan arrive in Cardiff for Cailan's first of many visits to Wales, the Land of his Fathers. | |
| 29.03.2007 | TAT Team Night out in Bristol, to celebrate the delivery of the first A400M Wingset to the FAL in Seville. It was a fiery affair in the form of the "Old India Revolution", basically a curry at Old India followed by trays of ludicrously flavoured Vodka Shots in Revolution. | |
| 31.01.2007 | Well a very quiet January, with very little of interest to report, so I won't bother! Hopefully more stuff happnin next month. | |
| 23.12.2006 | Travel off to Germany today to spend Christmas with Korina and Cailan. It is our first family Christmas, and my first away from home (Wales). | |
| 09.12.2006 | Photographs added to the Gallery from Bristol Summer Festivals 2006, Marianske Lazne August 2006, Augsburg September 2006, Oktoberfest 2006, and London October 2006. | |
| 07.12.2006 | I have been given a bit of a promotion in work, basically just a bit of additional Project Management concerning our inputs and deliverables. The most important and relevant part is the slight increase in rate! So it has possibly justified my decision slightly for me to stay put as opposed to moving on to more lucrative contracts. | |
| 04.12.2006 | Returning back to the UK after a weekend with Korina and Cailan. | |
| 30.11.2006 | Travelling to Germany today, to spend a long weekend with Korina and Cailan, as well as to visit some of the Christmas Markets and to do some Christmas Shopping. | |
| 25.11.2006 | Moved out of my flat in Bristol today, am currently in the process of looking for another one either in Bristol or Cardiff. | |
| 14.11.2006 | Happy 3rd Birthday to... nooneels.com, amazingly the third anniversary of the the websites first day online! | |
| 11.11.2006 |
Well I have booked my tickets for
the long awaited return of Genesis... 15 years in the making... Turn It On
Again!!!
I have got a pair of tickets for the gig on Friday 15th June 2007 at the AOL Arena in Hamburg, Germany, as well as a pair for the concert at the Olympic Stadium in Munich on Tuesday 10th July. More dates to follow...
European tour promoter, John
Giddings, commented: |
|
| 10.11.2006 | It's been another long spell since an update, anyhow, an update is here, with additional photo's added to the Gallery, and updates to the On Tour Still page., | |
| 08.11.2006 | Tonight was the night of the A400M Offline Programming Night out, taking in some of the culinary delights and bars of Clifton. A few beers to start at the Waterfront and Cambridge Arms topped off with a curry in Redland somewhere, then onto Henry J Beans and Henry Africa's on Whiteladies Rd before leading into the early hours down Park Street on vodka & red bull's. | |
| 07.11.2006 | Today I was Offered a 6 month contract in Sweden working on JSF. But as inline with last weekends decision, I turned it down to stay where I am. | |
| 06.11.2006 | Returned from a my long weekend to Germany. | |
| 04.11.2006 | I had my first Glühwein of the year today. As those of you in the know, know... Food and drink play a major role in the German Christmas celebration. In cities throughout Germany there are Christkindlesmarkts. In these Christmas markets one can enjoy all types of delicious Christmas edibles and beverages. Christmas goodies, from Lebkuchen (gingerbread) to Weihnachts Stollen (fruit bread) are plentiful. And the aroma of Glühwein ("glow wine"), a hot mulled wine that is drunk by adults and older children alike, fills the air. There is nothing quite like standing outside one of the Glühwein stalls at the Christkindlesmarkts on a freezing night with a mug of the fine stuff! | |
| 03.11.2006 | Off to Germany today, for the weekend to see Korina, Cailan and the in-laws. We generally have a quiet weekend planned, which makes a nice change after the past few hectic weeks. | |
| 30.10.2006 | Decided to turn the contract in Germany down. Don't ask me why, as I don't know myself yet. But it was just one of those gut feelings, and the old adage... the better the devil you know and the grass is not always greener on the other side etc. | |
| 29.10.2006 | On the return from a lads weekend in London, and feeling rather sensitive this morning too, as you can imagine. | |
| 28.10.2006 |
Well a Saturday out in London
with the Jolly Boy's wouldn't quite be the same without the legendary Thames
Crawl from Chiswick to Hammersmith. So here we go again... We hit Leicester Square in the Night, so look out tomorrow morning on the train home... |
|
| 27.10.2006 | The Jolly Boy's are off on a short weekend to London for the Old Faithful... That can only mean a skin-full of beer, and a bit of letching. We are staying at the original home of the Jolly Boy's in the form of the Holiday Inn Forum Hotel in Kensington. | |
| 26.10.2006 | After my informative visit of EADS in Augsburg a couple of weeks back, they have offered me a 6 month contract, with the potential of an extension or even a permanent position. Generally the money is more, and obviously it is in Germany where I am aiming to be one day, and the working atmosphere is a little more relaxed, as us job shoppers whom have worked in Germany before, well know. On the downside, there will be no work trips as there is currently, and also a stop on my training and development. In essence they wish to drain my sponge and absorb my knowledge for a while. Tough decision, will have to let them know either way on Monday. An ideal decision to be made over a Jolly Boy's Weekend in London! | |
| 14.10.2006 | This has probably been the largest length of time without an update than we have faced. Unfortunately being snowed under at work, and family holidays have to come first. Anyhow, an update is here, with additions to the Hints & Tips page, as well as to the Coolynx of the Day page. Updates to the Gallery to include the trips to Porthcawl in August, | |
| 07.10.2006 | Went on a Club Outing to Chepstow Horse Races for the day with a few mates from my local drinkery. Unfortunately I didn't have the most successful day at the hands of the bookies. | |
| 02.10.2006 | Travelled back from Naples to Munich, then Munich to Amsterdam, and Amsterdam to Bristol. So ended up spending most of the day in various airports across Europe. | |
| 01.10.2006 | Went on a day trip by boat to Positano and Amalfi, and met up with my Sister, brother in law and nephews and niece. | |
| 30.09.2006 | Another relaxing day out and about on the Sorrentine peninsula. | |
| 29.09.2006 | We went to Naples, saw it... and fortunately didn't die! Spent a full day on the tour trail. | |
| 28.09.2006 | On the beach! | |
| 27.09.2006 | We went on a boat trip to the famous isle of Capri. Cailan seemed suitably impressed, apart fro the fact he was strapped into his baby Bjorn. | |

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Munich City Centre, Near Rosenheimer Platz. We kicked the weekend off with brunch in Marienplatz, before heading of a shopping expedition around Town. We also managed to take in the rather enthusiastic and celebratory atmosphere of the Germany World Cup win versus Argentina. I can honestly say, I haven't seen so many cars hooting with flags flying in my life!
| 29.06.2006 | Eventually arrived in Munich, a little late, but as they say... better late than never! Korina and Cailan arrived a little earlier in the day, and met up with a number of her friends from the Toytown. | |

| 18.05.2006 | Well today is the day that a lot of Airbus UK employees have been waiting for, the first fly bye in the UK of the A380 "Super Jumbo". It made a number of low passes over both UK factories at Broughton in Flintshire, North Wales and at Filton in Bristol, South West of England. It was on route from the Frankfurt Air Show to London Heathrow, for Airport compatibility testing. I was fortunate to have a prime view of the event on the edge of the runway at the Filton site. There will be photo's added to the Gallery shortly, to commemorate this historic moment. | |
| 13.05.2006 | Photo's added to the Cailan April 2006, as well as updates to the Pic of the Month and Bionic Man on Tour Still pages. | |
| 07.05.2006 | Returned back to Bristol from Germany today, after my 12 day visit to see Cailan and Korina, and unfortunately back to work tomorrow too... I will certainly miss the sleepless nights, the feeding every four hours, nappy changes, and his joyful little smile everyday. | |
| 05.05.2006 | Cailan's first day out in his bonnie pristine carriage around Mitterteich. | |
| 04.05.2006 | Cailan and Korina were released from hospital after a eight days in their plush private room, to begin their highly interactive lives together at home; and without the assistance of an army of nurses. Cailan gets to go outside in the fresh air for the first time in his very short life, and to add another first, he makes his first car journey in the form of the short 12km trip home from Tirschenreuth to Mitterteich. Mitterteich is to be Cailan's home for the first two to three months, until he and Korina join me in Bristol to live. | |
| 01.05.2006 | I am currently visiting Korina and Cailan everyday at the hospital, the Kreiskrankenhaus in Tirschenreuth. They have a rather nice and quiet private room, with an adjoining balcony. I told Korina it would be just like a holiday giving birth!!! | |
| 26.04.2006 | Unfortunately I wasn't present for the birth of my first son, as I was a bit tied up with work in the UK, though I did attend as soon as actively possible, and flew over today to be at Korina's side... whilst she changes the nappies and feeds the little one, and to give any moral support. | |
| 25.04.2006 |
Well the day that we have been
waiting for, for nine months is finally upon us... today is the day that god
has decided to lighten our lives with our newborn baby son. Cailan was born
at 22:47 in Tirschenreuth, Bayern, Germany weighing 3360g/7lb 4oz and at
52cm/20.5" in length. He currently has light blonde hair and blue eyes...
but these are susceptible to change as we all know! So he looks like a true
German at the moment, but I am sure we can educate that out of him.
Unfortunately Korina had to have a Caesarean to assist in the birth, as the
wee one didn't fancy making an appearance so early... so he was delivered
via the sunroof. Cailan's full name is to be Cailan Alexander Voyle, and it
is intended that he will retain dual nationality of both German and British,
so a bit of an Anglo BritDeutsch effort between Korina and myself. For those
of you wondering where Cailan came from... and I mean the name; it is
officially Gaelic, meaning Child, and we pronounce it "Kay-Lan". Please say hello to the latest member of the Voyle family and nooneels.com... Cailan Alexander Voyle
both parents (Robert & Korina) are absolutely thrilled, especially Korina, as she no longer has the "hump"... to carry! |
|
| 22.04.2006 | Well today is the official date for the Birth of me and Korina's son to be, but there is no news as yet... so we will just have to wait and see how the day pan's out! It will probably come and go like any other. | |
| 17.04.2006 | Just arrived back from Germany after the Easter break, unfortunately there was no special delivery made during the holidays, so it looks like Korina will have to wait a little longer as will I! | |
| 16.04.2006 | Well a pretty quiet Easter break so far, possibly the quietest that I have had for a very long time, obviously this is due to the fact that Korina is now labouring a little bit with baby bear, and there is also a great reduction in any excursions. In case the little one feels like making an appearance. | |
| 14.04.2006 | Off to Germany for Easter, to spend some time with the mother to be, and her parents. Just a short break, from Friday to Monday, with the full set of Planes Trains and Automobiles on this journey. | |
| 13.04.2006 | Tonight was the night for the MSE Easter celebration pub crawl in Clifton. Where we all let our hair down (chance would be a fine thing) and enjoy the end of the first quarter of the working year. There was a number of the Airbus UK Manufacturing Systems Engineering teams there, including Structures, Systems, and of course ourselves... from the Technology Applications Team. Too many names to mention as always, though the highlights were... Anthony Ricketts, Nicholas Ribaut, Chris McMahon, Nigel Vockings, Tom Harris, Shariq Abbas and obviously myself! | |
| 08.04.2006 | Joined in with the Brunel 200 celebrations in Bristol with my parents, including a number of events staged around the City, and the extravaganza of the Firework and Light display at his most famous masterpiece, the Clifton Suspension Bridge. On the Saturday 8 April, the eve of Brunel’s birthday, there was a free stage show and spectacular firework display in Bristol linked to the switching on of the new lighting system at the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Performers on the main stage at Observatory Hill on the Clifton Downs included Brunel Brass, Acta community theatre, Bristol Choral Society, Dance Bristol, Andy Sheppard and 200 saxophonists. Thousands gathered there and down in the Cumberland Basin to view the switching on of the lights and the fireworks, just where we were on Hotwells Road. | |
| 05.04.2006 | Tonight was the night of the NC Programming / Technology Applications Team night out in Bristol, to introduce two new members into the team and to watch the Juventus v Arsenal Champions League Quarter Final game. We manage to do a few bars in town in what was a fairly quiet midweek affair, but a nice evening just the same. | |
| 04.04.2006 | Met up with some of the guy's from work, and specifically a revisiting Max Wunderlich from Varel in Germany. Max decided to pop over to Bristol for a couple of days holiday... as you do! and of course meet up with some of his former work colleagues and friends from Bristol. We managed to eat early on with an old British Tradition of a Curry, then hit a few bars in the Clifton area. Unfortunately we arrived a little late and had to leave a little early, due to pressing work commitments. But at least we made the effort, see you next time Max... | |
| 01.04.2006 | We have decided to temporarily suspend the use of the Guestbook and replace it with the "Feedback" option, due to a hefty Spam content, including links to some quite disturbing sites. So as it is April Fools Day, we have decided to be fools no longer in the fight against spamming and hyper-linking our visitors to the sites of undesirable. | |
| 31.03.2006 | New page added to the Gallery for Munich March 2006, as well as updates to the Pic of the Month and Bionic Man on Tour Still pages. | |
| 27.03.2006 | Arrived back from a much needed and enjoyed break to Munich to see Korina and Friends. | |
| 26.03.2006 | Made a visit to the new Allianz Arena, the home of Bayern Munich; and met up with Martin for a beer after a fairly leisurely day. | |
| 25.03.2006 | Did a bit of baby shopping... if you know what I mean! Then enjoyed a few beers with some old friends in the form of Martin, Kristen and Sue and hit a couple of old haunts. | |
| 24.03.2006 | Korina and I arrived in Munich for the weekend for a wee break, and are staying at the Munich City Hilton near Rosenheimer Platz. Enjoyed a traditional Bavarian feast of Beers and a hearty Meal of Pork. | |
| 17.03.2006 | Went out with a few friends from work to celebrate St Patrick's day at O'Neill's in Bristol City Centre before moving onto a few more bars. | |
| 11.03.2006 | Made the mistake of following Wales again in the Six Nations Rugby with Friends down the local this year, which was quite painful. | |
| 01.03.2006 |
We can now confirm what sex Robert & Korina's new born baby

obviously it is a...

| 01.03.2006 |
Well in case anyone is still
unaware, nooneels.com is expecting a new addition to the family in the form
of Robert & Korina's new born baby to be. He or She is due around the 22nd
April 2006, and unfortunately up until now we have been unable to confirm
the exact sex... but it looks quite likely to be a girl! Anyhow I will keep
everybody informed as soon as I know more... ,,,I wonder where it all might end!
|
|
| 26.02.2006 | Korina returns to Munich, and so in turn my credit cards gets a well deserved break. | |
| 25.02.2006 | We went to see the precise re-enactment of the historic Genesis - 1975 The Lamb Lies Down On Broadaway Tour by the Musical Box at the Bristol Colston Hall, 31 years after Genesis opened their Lamb World Tour in Bristol, just down the road at the Hippodrome. | |
| 19.02.2006 | I have recently purchased a new digital camera, basically just because my old camera was becoming a bit dated, and so to catch up with technology slightly. So from now onwards all digital photographs within the website will be from my new Canon Ixus 750, offering upto 7.1mp, as opposed to my previous Sony Cybershot DSC-P5 which was a 3.2mp. | |
| 16.02.2006 | We went to see the theatre version of a chick flick at the Bristol Hippodrome, in the form of My Fair Lady. | |
| 14.02.2006 | Korina and I spent our Valentines evening with a rather fabulous meal at the Ellipse Restaurant at the Brigstow Hotel in Welshback Bristol before heading off to Stonehouse to relax the night away with some smooth Live Jazz. | |
| 11.02.2006 | My parents came to Bristol for the weekend on Saturday, and we took in a lot of restaurants and bars in our long search for the perfect venue to watch the Wales game on the Sunday. Which inevitably ended up being Walkabout as usual. But we did try hard for it not to be, and the weekend included visits to O'Neill's, Slug & Lettuce, Zeebar, Cyrano's, Riverside Oriental, The Hole In The Wall, Walkabout, and That Mexican Place. | |
| 10.02.2006 | Korina arrived today from Munich, to spend a couple of weeks in Bristol we me, which means that we will probably be taking in some serious shopping, some restaurants & bars, as well as a trip to the theatre maybe. | |

| 13.01.2006 | Back from our Siemens training course in Manchester. | |
| 10.01.2006 | Made a pilgrimage to the footie tonight to see Wigan v Arsenal in the Carling Cup Semi-Final First Leg. It was a pretty disappointing affair, with very little goalmouth action and a narrow 1-0 victory for the home team. The most entertaining part of the night seemed to be the short lived floodlight failure just after half-time... well it got the Wigan fans cheering! Mind, I did get to sample one of Wigan's famous culinary delights... in the form of a Poole's Meat Pie, it was beautiful as they say up North! | |
| 09.01.2006 | Off to Manchester for a week today, for some training at Siemens as part of the ongoing development of the Airbus A400M Project. We are staying at the Thistle Hotel on Portland Street, near Piccadilly Square. | 24.10.2005 | Had a great weekend in Prague as anticipated, did all the sites and Uflecku, but then came the extremely disappointing news of the cancellation of both of the Phil Collins concerts at the Sazka Arena in Prague. It put a real dampener on the weekend, and left us with a free evening to fill. The concerts have been postponed until the 23rd and 24th November, which it seems unlikely that we will be able to attend. | |
| 21.10.2005 | Well I we are off to Prague today for the weekend, for a bit of sightseeing, shopping, and to be entertained by the great food, even better beer, and the Phil Collins Concert at the Sazka Arena on the Monday night. It has been a long road to travel, but it looks like I have finally passed the finishing post. My treatment and consultation started due to a car accident that I was involved in on the 8th March 2003, and I have now completed my treatment 114 weeks later... it's taken a long time like! | |

We made the most of the early summer, by spending a great deal of time in the numerous beer gardens, and a sun burning Sunday at the Seehaus in the Englischer Garten. It was just a spot of luck really, as it was a bit of a surprise visit by them. They were on the Election trail, and trying to create some good vibes about British manufacturing, after the collapse of MG Rover. I managed to get a couple of words and a hand shake with Tony & Gordon, whilst they were touring the factory. I was hoping to try to persuade Mr Brown to give us hard working subbies a bit of a tax break, and maybe scrap this ridiculous threat of IR35!

I am eagerly looking forward to my next visits, which should occur in May and August of this year. Hopefully then, I will have a little more free time to see all the wonderful sights that the area has to offer, and to take some pictures for the Gallery; as unfortunately on this occasion we were mainly tied up with work during the day's, and only had some free time during the evenings.

| 19.02.2005 | Went to Bristol Zoo today, a so called must do... in any Bristol Guidebook. I have to say... I was extremely disappointed! the Zoo is very nice, and laid out extremely well, but it lacks the star attractions to be honest. For instance there are no Tigers, Elephant, Giraffe, Rhino etc, the main attractions are the Lions, and the Seal and Penguin pool, which has an underwater viewing area. All the kids there seemed to be enjoying themselves, but there were a few voices of discontent to be heard. Amazingly Bristol Zoo Gardens was awarded the prestigious title of Zoo of the Year by the Good Britain Guide in 2004. Click here for more info on the Bristol Zoo. | |
| 18.02.2005 | Made a day trip to Bath, mainly to visit the Museum of the 2,000 year old Roman Baths and Pumphouse, as the last time we visited Bath, they were being refurbished. | 14.02.2005 |
