Regensburg & Weiden Sept 2003

During September on our tour of Bavaria, Germany  we visited the very picturesque city of Regensburg, and the more industrious town of Weiden. Both are situated in the North of Bavaria, towards the East. Regensburg is located on the Danube and is approximately 1 & 1/2 hours north of Munich. While Weiden is situated a further 30 minutes north of Regensburg.

The oldest wurst house in the world, the Wurstküche.

A view of the Danube and the oldest bridge in Germany, the Steinerne Brücke which is 850 years old.

A view across the Danube of St Peters Dom, the Tor from the Altstadt to cross the stone bridge, and a view of the Altstadt downstream.

A Taxi crossing the stone bridge, as private motor vehicles are no longer allowed to cross the bridge, to try to conserve it.

A look to the North of the City.

A photo of myself on the stone bridge, with The Dom and Tor.

Korina on the stone bridge and the Danube at dusk.

We did visit some of the other famous sights, such as Dom St Peter and Scloss Thurn und Taxis, but the weather was not particulary good for most of the day and so this influenced our decision to limit our photographs.

One other latest historic addition to the City, was that Oskar Schindler once lived in here, he was made famous by the Steven Spielburg film `Schindler's List`

All photographs were taken near the Steinerne Brücke Regensburg - Germany on the 12th September 2003.

The second of our visits in this region was to Weiden, it is a large market town, which has become quite industrialised. It has a very nice and quaint town centre, which contains all the usual city centre shops, as seen in all German cities.

The old town, where the market is held, and where the towns may day `maypole` celebrations are held.

Robert & Korina in the Altstadt of Weiden.

The Altstadt where both the Neue and Alt Rathaus are located.

All photographs were taken in the Altstadt Weiden - Germany on the 13th September 2003.
