only worked at Eurocopter in Donauwörth, Germany for
two weeks on a consultant basis as a Production Engineer. But even in two weeks you can gain new experiences and even more
friends. I worked there in April 2001.A vivid memory of the short time that I worked in
Donauwörth, was that it rained for the entire two weeks, which is normal for
this region apparently; So I felt quite at home with this kind of weather. As by
the name, you might guess that Donauwörth, and in particular this case
Eurocopter is situated on the banks of the river Donau (Danube). I recall the
river had broken it's banks, and the car park was flooded with 4ft of water. It
was so bad that some of the employee's came to work by boat!

Foreword
In keeping with its targets, Eurocopter has increased its turnover by 12%,
and secured its position as the world's top helicopter manufacturer by capturing
60% by value of the worldwide civil and parapublic market.
In January 1992, DaimlerChrysler Aerospace AG (Dasa) of Germany and the French
aerospace company Aerospatiale Matra agreed to merge their helicopter
activities, resulting in the establishment of the Eurocopter Group, the world's
leading helicopter exporter. In July 2000, the two parent companies and CASA of
Spain merged to form the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS),
Europe's largest aerospace company and No. 2 worldwide.
Eurocopter has three plants and facilities in Germany (Ottobrunn, Donauwörth,
Kassel) and two in France (La Courneuve, Marignane) and 15 subsidiaries and
participations worldwide. The Group's head office is located in Marignane. The
company develops, produces, markets and supports a uniquely comprehensive range
of helicopter models, from single-engine light helicopters to twin-engine light
and medium choppers up to 11-ton transport helicopters. Around 90 per cent of
the market requirements are covered by these diverse models.

Capabilities
Eurocopter is the leading helicopter company world-wide not only on account
of its range of products but also in view of its numerous research and
development projects. Work is being conducted, for instance, on further noise
abatement as well as on projects regarding the full all-weather capability of
helicopters and the potential for optimising in-flight comfort and the safety of
pilots and passengers. Eurocopter is in close contact here with other industrial
partners in the aerospace industry, as well as the German and French aerospace
institutes DLR and ONERA, respectively.
