 ell the day that we
have been waiting for, for nine months is finally upon us... today is the day
that god has decided to lighten our lives with our newborn baby son. Cailan was
born at 22:47 in Tirschenreuth, Bayern, Germany weighing 3360g/7lb 4oz and at
52cm/20.5" in length. He currently has light blonde hair and blue eyes... but
these are susceptible to change as we all know! So he looks like a true German
at the moment, but I am sure we can educate that out of him. Unfortunately
Korina had to have a Caesarean to assist in the birth, as the wee one didn't
fancy making an appearance so early... so he was delivered via the sunroof.
Cailan's full name is to be Cailan Alexander Voyle, and it is intended that he
will retain dual nationality of both German and British, so a bit of an Anglo
BritDeutsch effort between Korina and myself. For those of you wondering where
Cailan came from... and I mean the name; it is officially Gaelic, meaning Child,
and we pronounce it "Kay-Lan".

Please say hello to
the latest member of the Voyle family and nooneels.com...
Cailan Alexander Voyle

The following
photo's follow the first twelve days of Cailan…

As the first child
of Robert Voyle and Korina Brenk, a baby boy… Cailan Alexander Voyle was born on
Tuesday 25th April 2006 at 10:47pm in Tirschenreuth, Bayern, Germany; weighing
3360grams/7lbs 4oz and at 52cm/20.5" long. He will hold dual British and German
nationality even though born in Germany, as it is anticipated that he will spend
a large part of his life in the UK

As you can see,
Cailan has light blonde hair and blue eyes, and tends to resemble his father
rather than his mother, according to some. He fortunately is able to sleep for
large amounts of the day, and is only awake around meal times, and is then
straight back to sleep again. He is a naturally very quiet baby, and very rarely
cries, and if so it is for a maximum of 20 seconds (well in the beginning
anyway). Cailan’s mother unfortunately had to give birth via a Caesarean
section, after trying to give a natural birth for over 7 hours from 2:00pm to
9:00pm.

Full length shot

The name Cailan is
derived from the Gaelic name for a boy meaning child, and is officially
pronounced cah-lan, though we prefer to pronounce it in the Welsh-Deutsch
version cay-lan from the Gaelic name Calan. Amazingly or not, there are a number
of American girls named Cailan even though it is a boy’s name, but then again
that is probably no surprise really
Cailan is an extremely quiet and patient baby, and does not cry when having to
wait to be fed or to have his nappies changed. He is quite possibly the quietest
baby I have ever come across

As you can imagine
both parents (Robert & Korina) are absolutely thrilled, especially Korina, as
she no longer has the "hump"... to carry!

much that you can say about a baby that just lies there and sleeps for 20 hours

Hands off!!!

Cailan was
officially named Cailan Brenk on his birth certificate after his mothers family
name for the first week or so of his life, due to the German state not allowing
children of unmarried parents to automatically take the fathers family name. But
this has now been modified to Cailan Voyle, at much cost to ourselves, and the
involvement of translators to confirm acknowledgement of paternity

It is generally a

during feeding before he actually nods off. He tends to find the sucking rather
tiring

White Lightning

If anyone is
wondering why there is a small brown stain on Cailan's changing table near his
mouth in the following shots, then this is due to him constantly spitting out
the vulgar fennel tea that he gets fed now and again. He does not tend to like
this tea very much, and it is unadvisable to hold him after being fed this, as
it is very likely that he will projectile spit it at you

Fennel Tea
Clinical studies
have shown that fennel, as part of the diet, helps regulate contractions of the
small intestine and aids gas expulsion. Fennel also relaxes the gut, which can
relieve spasms of the GI tract. As a result, fennel assists in the dietary
management of IBS symptoms, and is exceptional for IBS bloating, gas and
abdominal pain. Fennel is also a traditional digestive aid for colic, heartburn,
indigestion, and stomach-aches
However good it is
